I just started on the gold server and wasn't given the option to change my character appearance, is there any fix for this?

I would like to inform you that this is a rare bug that may be experienced.

However, if you have not started yet your adventure on GOLD and you're yet at the start, we can offer you an account reset that should be helpful to solve your issue.

Are you interested in resetting your gold progress in order to solve this issue?

After logging in and out a few times I decided to try swapping from the 64-bit client to the 32-bit client, which unlike the 64-bit client gave me the expected dialogue with Professor Oak and allowed me to customize my appearance.

Frustratingly I'd be kicked out and had to log back in every 10 seconds to so, but was allowed to continue customizing my character each time.

 

All in all swapping to the 32-bit client ultimately resolved my issue, so a reset won't be necessary.

Nevertheless I appreciate your offer and thank you for the assistance in the matter, and I hope you have a wonderful day as well!
