What EVs should I train on froakie and growlithe?

What EVs should I train on froakie and growlithe? I have both with very good IV. For froakie I was going to do special attack and speed, and growilithe HP and speed. Is this a good idea?

Hi there. Before anything, I'll clarify on the necessary aspects of Pokemon to help you understand. Nature is important because it affects your stats by increasing or decreasing them. When you look at your pokemon's information card, the green statistic is boosted while the orange statistic is lowered. If none are colored, then your nature is neutral and does not affect statistics.

In your pokemon trainer card, the orange values are the pokemon's IVs while the blue values are the pokemon's EVs. IVs are fixed and are generated upon capture of the pokemon. You can have a maximum of 31 IVs, which is the best. EVs on the other hand can be increased by defeating pokemon. Each pokemon provides 1-3 EVs on a stat, depending on what you kill. You can read up on EV yield here. Usually, you want to EV train by defeating pokemon that give you the EVs you need to increase your desired stat. Every 4 EVs adds another point to the stat, which is what you want. You can learn more about EV training from our EV Guide. You can also learn more about PRO's Mechanics in our PRO General Information.

Smogon is usually good for seeing viable movesets, natures, and EVs. However, due to Smogon being updated to Gen 7, they aren't always transferable to PRO. For Greninja, most people in PRO run 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, and 6 Attack with a Naive nature. However, you can still run a Physical Greninja. For Arcanine, you can run him defensively or offensively. For a Defensive Arcanine, you can do 252 Defense, 248 HP, and 8 Attack. For an Offensive Arcanine, you can do 252 Attack, 252 Speed, and 4 Defense. As quoted from Smogon,
