Varonmeer
I joined Pokemon Revolution Online fairly recently, and let me just say it is an amazing game. As a long time pokemon fan, I'm so glad that I found this game and the developers took the time to make it. Thank you. With that out of the way, I have two suggestions regarding potential improvements to the game based on what I've seen so far. One thing I notice is that when your opponent disconnects during a battle, it does not count as a win for the other player. Sure, the person who disconnected gets it recorded on their trainer card, but it doesn't do any favors for the would-be winner. I suggest that disconnections count as a victory for the other player. Now, I understand that means some players could win battles they wouldn't have ordinarily due to connection problems. I would wager those wins are far less frequent than ordinary wins or losses. If I am not mistaken, this game can be played on Android, which could be more susceptible to disconnects than someone on pc. Internet connectivity is simply a requirement for online battling, and if said person does not have a reliable connection, that is a problem for online battling in any game. As it stands now, disconnects are heavily, heavily abused in order for opponents to give the winning player a "black eye", as it were. My trainer card reflects a lousy career when in fact I stomped most of my opponents and they disconnected on their last remaining pokemon. Most of the people I inspect have a terrible win/loss ratio and many players have a high disconnection number. It isn't because most of the community are playing on potatoes rather than a proper electronic device, I'm sure.. This issue isn't good for the community as a whole, in my opinion. Secondly, to me one of the biggest appeals of this particular title is the ability to adventure and battle with people online. I love that I can have a traditional pokemon experience with my friends and battle other people in the world. However battling other players, especially my friends, is particularly difficult in this game due to the lack of level scaling. In the game-boy pokemon games that I have played, when you battle another player everyone's pokemon are scaled up to level level 20, 50 or 100 depending on the highest level pokemon on each trainer's team. While this does not account for IV's or EV's, it does allow people to battle without worrying as much about how their pokemon's level match against their opponent. It makes matchmaking easier overall. I find that I often cannot battle someone in the world, because our pokemon are too different in level. This problem is exaggerated by the frequency of 'higher level players' passing through 'lower level areas.' One high level pokemon on someone's team can prevent a fair match. That said, I do frequently battle other trainers in the world when our pokemon's levels happen to be similar. I'm sure that when I reach the end of the game matchmaking will be easier, partially due to greater amount of pokemon that I would possess. Still.. I think the experience of playing this title will benefit extremely from some level scaling. I think it will encourage players to invite their friends and to continue playing the game. Thanks for reading, and thanks again for an awesome game! Edited March 17, 2019 by Varonmeer
Heroofthestreet
You're surely talking about unranked because in ranked, even if the server crashes for one player (and for the other it doesn't, which is a problem to be solved in the future) the other gets the points and a registered win, whilst the one who crashed loses them and gets a registered loss which is extremely frustrating
Olker
I suggested something similar a while ago, mainly for newer players. That would incentive newer players to pvp more.
