I am trying to lvl up my honedge but apparently it gets hit by primeape's stomping tantrum even thought its a ghost, i switched to rotom and he didnt get hit.

Stomping tantrum is a ground move, not only it hits honedge, but is supereffective. It didn't hit rotom because it has levitate

Honedge doesnt get damaged by fighting moves, your honedge got defeat with a stomping tantrum because that move is type ground, and honedge doesnt have levitate or an ability to avoid this type and ghost and steel gets super effective if they get hurt by ground moves.
