Okay, So say you're hunting for example Froakie (there is no repel trick for froakie) and in the area its in, Its level 25 and everything elsein the area is level 24 you can put a level 25 first in your party and use a repel and how it works is the repel will only repel weaker pokemon so you wont find any of the level 24's and you will only find the level 25 froakie hope this helps :) and just remember not every pokemon has a "repel trick" you can check using the discord bot in the pokemon revolution discord using the command ^repel and the name of the pokemon you want to hunt

To add-up some basic information about the method.

Repel trick allows a player to find the highest-leveled wild Pokémon in an area.

Note, that there are certain places where you can use repel trick to encounter only certain pokemons. (It cannot be used in every grass or water for every pokemon)
