Benikisaki
Hi. I am aware that you asked to not report bugged or not working moves and abilities, but please have a look at this. I am hereby reporting and legitimately complaining that Magic Coat does not work at all. First of all there is the fact that it has been over 11 months since you asked to "not report pvp bugs", and at this point you might be willing to consider to look into minor yet important pvp moves/ability that are not working and that would require very very little work to be fixed, such as the one I am reporting which is basically a copy+paste from an implemented ability (Magic Bounce). And second, I am reporting a move which on one side is not working, but despite that has: 1) A Reborn Bot entry which is not saying it is bugged. 2) A move tutor in game that teaches you the move for 15.000 Pokedollars 3) Even a dedicated page on the ProWiki describing every detail of the move: https://prowiki.info/index.php?title=Magic_Coat To be honest, given these circumstances I personally find it ridiculous that such a thing is not only not fixed, but not even considered right now. Things like this make the game less playable and enjoyable, and the fact that you can read all about and even obtain the move without any warning that it's not working makes everything even worse. As already said, as I know how coding works, I can tell for sure that fixing this (along with some other moves or abilities that I am not pointing out right now), would just require to copy the code of another instance (in this case the ability Magic Bounce) and paste it into this moves instance. I mean, I would even do such things for you myself if it would be possible but I assume its not, so all I can do I ask for you awareness and point out that lots of your players get annoyed every day by not working things that could be solved easily. I hope you don't get me wrong, I don't wanna sound harsh, just pointing out facts. Here the proof of the bug, even if I don't think it's really needed: Video evidence Cheers and best regards! ;) Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/147969-important-bug-needs-to-be-reported/ Share on other sites
Benikisaki
Up! Just to strengthen this mater with another example: You are able to introduce whole new Pokémon like Jangmo-o and Cutiefly, but then the latter has one of its abilities (Shield Dust) not coded or bugged. Things like these are just extremely disappointing. Please, please do something. 1 Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/147969-important-bug-needs-to-be-reported/#findComment-814048 Share on other sites
Benikisaki
Same thing for Outrage which is 4 turns instead of 3 max, bug which has been there for literally years. Whitebaron
Hello @Benikisaki, Fixing a bug is not that simple. Every single change on a move can impact other things since they interact with each other and interact with abilities (even sometimes with the battle code). Also that's why we only fix (or ban) a move that can be abusable. It's not worth for our Dev's to spend their time to search for every single bug that can happen after making a change on a move since they are re-coding properly the whole battle code. For Outrage if it doesn't affect already any other move or ability it should be fixed already, as you can see it's not fixed yet. An ability (or a move) which is not absolutly needed to play for the Pokemon won't be coded for the reasons explained above. WhiteBaron. I understand your explanation. This still arises some questions in my mind and I would kindly ask you if you are able to answer them for me. I completely understand that it's not just about a move/ability, but also about the interaction with other variables of the battle code. Hence, I clearly see that implementing something new that may interact with other moves and abilities is pretty complicated. However, since we are talking about a move which has the exact same effect of an ability which is already implemented, how can this be so complicated since there already is the code for it written? My second question would then be about why the move is described and obtainable via a move tutor in game if it's not working? It may just make people think that they can use it and find out the hard way (maybe in PvP) that it's not working. Thanks for your time, cheers! :) Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/147969-important-bug-needs-to-be-reported/#findComment-815110 Share on other sites
Whitebaron
Hi and sorry for the delay I'm busy right now. An attack can be similar to an ability, but that doesn't mean that in the battle code it acts the same way (in terms of coding of course)for example, the turns system interact too in that case that need some modifications not worth in time invest. In addition, some attacks that are not essential for pvp will not be added now. Regarding the moove tutor I asked our scripters to temporarily remove it. Developer Shaolan Posted May 12, 2020 Developer Share Posted May 12, 2020 Hey @Benikisaki , I get your point. Not gonna lie, it was a bit complicated but here you go... Magic Coat should be coded after a server crash or restart. 2 Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/147969-important-bug-needs-to-be-reported/#findComment-826697 Share on other sites
