When I joined my very first guild, I noticed that not many members of that guild were online. I left the guild because many were offline for a day or two. Some for days. Others can be counted as inactive entirely and then there's the 'my life is a priority at the moment'. There was no chatting between us as guild members. The guild channel in the game was of no use since it wasn't used to communicate with each other. All i took away from the experience was the 'hype' around joining a guild.

 

I know there are many guilds who use other platforms of communication such as discord and skype but they don't appeal to me. It's certainly a case of social preference or simply a lack of in-game social guild inactivity drove the masses to use discord or skype. I could be wrong.

 

I'd like to read what others have to say about the future of guilds going forward and what features you'd like to guilds to have in the future.

I agree with you. Long story short, I decided to create my own guild (because I do feel the social aspects of this game are important) and hopefully we'll be ready to launch soon. It's going to be different from what we've seen from guilds till this day.

Imo, it just depends upon the guild members and their preference, there are guilds that prefer ingame chats and there are also guild that prefer other chat facilities, this could be due to several reasons such as server bieng full, downtime etc.

I find outer chat services better cuz it's the only way to chat eachother during a downtime or long update. Theres a plus point i find in using outer chat services which is sharing pictures/music/videos.

The channels and services are cool,i just hope for some secondary rank and more cap in guilds.
