And every time my character is a blank bald canvas without any of the settings I chose. Perhaps this is a patcher issue? Whenever my client starts it always says "Failed to Download Update" 

 

Stuff I Have Tried: 

I have deleted the client multiple times and have attempted to download from different sources (media fire, ddl, mega) 

I have tried to download all 6 options of 64 bit/32 bit options (my laptop is a Windows 64 Bit)

I have tried making a new account 

 

I have tried the native windows extraction 

I have tried winzip to extract the zip files 

 

I have created new folders on the desktop as the extraction destination 

I have created new folders within the "My Documents" section of the PC 

 

Edit: It should be noted that even though I'm constantly taken to the character creation screen, whenever I finish picking my settings and Prof Oak finishes talking my character is back where they were the previous session. 

 

Please help, I really want to play this with friends and it would be helpful to know how  I can help them avoid this issue so they don't get as discouraged as I am about playing.

My sincerest apologies for the issues encountered. 

 

This bug was associated to the newest client version which released yesterday. A fix was uploaded recently that should resolve this problem. Please try to delete all your game files and redownload from the official website.
