i am at rustboro city and i dont have a rock smash.. how am i supposed to continue the story? where can i get one? havent reached mauville city yet.

Hello @Daniel4949. Apologies for the late reply.

 

At this point of the story, Rock Smash is not needed.

Assuming that you have defeated the Rustboro City Gym, talked with the devon worker just outside the gym, retrieved the Devon Goods from Team Magma/Aqua in Rusturf Tunnel, and saved Peeko, you should make your way to the southern section of Route 104 and enter the house there. Inside, the NPC will offer to take you to Dewford Town for small fee. Before leaving, make sure you have the letter given by Mr. Stone inside the Devon Corp building in Rustboro City.
