Could you let me know which item it was that you purchased with PvE coins?
 

On this occasion we will reverse the purchase and refund the coins for you, but please do be more careful in future as we would not do it again.

 

I have also spoken with Eaty. Items that are not available for your avatar's gender show with no preview currently, and this is typically how you would spot the difference. There will be a change in the next client update that ensures that gender specific items are easier to identify (and with what gender), which should help prevent this happening again, for yourself, and for other players also.
