lost my item from getting logged out , i can't find the npc for that item now

im doing yorkie's quest and i found his brother , got the key item and when i was about to go to yorkie's house it logged me out , when i logged back in i lost my key item.

at 1st i was thinking it did not save but then i checked my cash and it was down by 50k.

i searched for yorkie's brother in places twice , logged out and in game and did it again but still can't find him ,yorkie told me that his brother is somewhere in kanto but i can't find him.
