I have no experience with gen 1 games so I need some suggestions for a pokemon team that will get the through the kanto region, I chose squirtle as my starter so i'm going to need suggestions on a team that revolves around blastoise (Moves will help a lot.)

Any pokemon is okay if it's just for story.

I know I'm just looking for suggestions, i haven't got any pokemon planned out.

the fact there are thousand strategies, every pokemon are useful, catch and try them.

I think I've decided on a team, Blastoise, Nidoking, Gengar, Gyarados, Ninetails and Jolteon. It would be great If someone would give me suggestions on moves.

Just to bring some light onto the post, you could always headbutt trees and catch some non-gen 1 Pokemon or if you have a membership, you could always grind out another Pokemon!

For later into the game, I would recommend a Gengar for the Elite 4 100%, though I would say just go with the flow, the most amazing thing about pokemon is EVERYTHING is viable. Pick your favourites, what looks good, what seems strong, what you enjoy using. As Karen of the Johto Elite 4 says "Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites." and that's entirely true.
