Astrid
130672 i don't understand. you guys make it sound like the reason people aren't social in PRO is because there isn't a specific spot where everyone can go and talk. that's not it. the players simply just don't want to communicate with others. if you want to socialize in an MMO, the best way nowadays is to just join a guild that puts an emphasis on teamwork and socializing. that's the best way. i know i'm making it sound like i am shooting down OP's idea, but i am not. i'm only throwing in my POV so that when it comes to decision making, people look at all the angles. I'm not saying it is THE reason, I am saying it is most probablye ONE OF THE REASONS. How could you know for sure that it's not the fact, when people here made it clear that they'd use a cafe. Because we are a bunch of people wanting to socialize, and have nowhere specific to gather, if there was a specific spot, we'd have a way to find each other. This is all win, people who wanna chit chat will go to the cafe, those who dont care wont, I don't see the problem. That the only efficient way to socialize is to join a guild, which is baiscally a closed community, is sad imo. all right then. you read my post and you've made your point. :y: btw, if the devs decide to do this, make the drinks selection diverse. i wanna order pumpkin spice frappuccino. and make the barista cute. Starlight
regarding Discord, the problem is, it wasn't being promoted heavily. I mean, just look at this forum. There's a direct link to the IRC, but no direct link to the Discord. The thread that mentioned the Discord invitation also has disappeared. 130362 I've honestly in 50 hours only seen two people speak in Local chat and it's pretty disappointing. I support this. I'd like to socialize with other people as well, but at the current state, it's futile unless you're in a closely knit guild. 2 in just 50 hours of playtime is impressive, considering I only see Local channel being used 2 times in almost 700 hours of playtime. Local channel is literally a huge mess, really. Made even worse by the fact that you can't delete Local channel, so you ends up having to sacrifice one good channel for another. (In my case, I can't have Battle channel because I already have my country's channel, Trade channel, All channel, Help channel, Guild channel, and the useless Local channel) Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/18796-how-to-make-pro-a-social-mmo/page/4/#findComment-134783 Share on other sites

Yeah I try to answer everyone cos' I want this to be community driven, and it is still very vague so I take criticisms. You should watch Last Week Tonight about Pumpking Spice :D but yeah putting some funny drinks would be cool. And i'll be the hot Barista dw ;D To the guy who said the Discord waasnt well advertised, I couldnt agree more... Tnzn
130697 While I like the idea, many game companies solve this problem by forcing players to go to a location for something... Be it an auction house or a certain vendor... If PRO was to force us to "hang out" in these locations, the rest of the world would be diminished. It is pretty obvious to me, in my few weeks of playing this game, that viridian city is a staple for meetups. However, if I happen to be in Johto when someone wants to trade with me, it becomes either an expensive or complicated journey to get to where they are (likely somewhere near viridian). The problem here is that the majority of people that you might possibly end up trading with are stuck on Kanto because they either havn't beat the E4 or don't want to run back from Johto. Making a single area easily accessible from any region, but not allow it to be used as a quick taxi ride from place to place would be very difficult to develop, but could prove useful in creating an area where people can socialize. If I understood correctly you"re saying this kind of stuff would desert other places ? It's a risk yeah. The cafe could be something out of "space", that you can access fdrom a few cities in both johto and kanto and when you leave it, it gets you back to the city where you come from I guess. There could also be some outside socializing places to avoid it being all indoor I guess. Gehrman
There's just no point for players to chat in person. There's no incentive. The overworld is pretty, but all questions can be answered in all-chat or 'help' channels. "Tonight... Gehrman joins the hunt...." Tnzn
Just bumping it since only one trade mod had a say in the post so I wonder if the rest of the staff read it :o I'll just emphasize on the fact that Pokemon was designed as a solo game and that the game design is nearly the same here which is the basis of my point; Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/18796-how-to-make-pro-a-social-mmo/page/4/#findComment-134787 Share on other sites
Atlow
Why dont you consider the implementation of "houses" in concrete scenarios, these would be rented for Xamount of poke$ or credits monthly, house will have a bed where pokemons will offline increase Happiness/Evs/ --Generate poke$, (for these who buy ms and items just to exchange $ into poke$) but with ofc limited avaliability and better features. Also a member only city ( or several ) , filled with more of these premium houses maybe with higher benefits due to being premium isle-only (does not even need a pokecentre, house acts as both healer and shop maybe also moveset, etc. Isle surroundings will have higher lvl pokemons that drop gently more gold Also pokemons can be deposited into house for the world to see from the outside (roofless house), that way you can money dig out of boastfull people, specially if these houses are located on key cities. Remove all these useless npc that just speak garbage and give no items, replace them for $producing$ houses, let the starters dream with what they can achieve. Looking forward to improve the game. Orihara
Its a pretty good idea. Tho there is one obstacle in its way, having lots of players in the same map causes issues with the server, and ultimately crash it due to high map traffic. On that regard, lumping all those players into one place is not really a good idea, especially with the current situation of server stability. Having a social chat, be that ingame or forum (preferably off-topic) to advertise which channel you will be in/people should gather would suffice and wouldn't create too much traffic. ...And all will burn, beneath the shadow of my wings. Atlow
Yeah, stability must definately be fixed due to pokemon trainers nature to gather on pokecentres, this is only a crash countdown, despite the fact that it NEEDS to be fixed the adding of player owned houses throughout the map routes ( every house that has useless npcs should be a micro business chance, along with islands. This will or wont help to temporately reduce people gathering crash chance depending on the amount of populated houses/islands (crashes must be fixed anyway and with higher priority^^ ) But dont miss chance to generate a lush extra money/credits by making available this awesome feature to players that undoubtedly would purchase, starting by me. Just the term " Limited availability " Because houses are phisical, and therefore, finite, so if you (house owner) dont increase the bid for next month ( if prise has raised ) other player will outbid your house. Imagine millions being monthly bid for residing on the member's middlemost 6x4 square house of "Highgarden Valley" and that being one of the smallest ;) Just draw me these roofless. Wet already. Visit Atlow's Shop ! >>>>> https://bit.ly/kadabras Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/18796-how-to-make-pro-a-social-mmo/page/4/#findComment-134791 Share on other sites
