Should I Finnish/get all badges before start pvp?

So I start this game last week and finished kanto. If I want to start pvp with other players, should I Finnish other regions first or I can start battling with my kanto pokemon? 

You can start pvp with 6 lv 100 mon, but better with more region complete since you ll get more choice on team, either mons, move or legendary

I am personally waiting till I finish all the main story/regions before getting into PVP.
