So if you've got 95% percent allotted to two abilitys and 5% allotted to the hidden ability chance, you have a 47.5 chance of getting either the first or second ability.

Like Rete12123 said, each encounter has 5% chance to have hidden ability, that means you can keep on encountering a Pokemon with hidden ability and the opposite.

That's not how chance works, at all. Every instance has its own chance, in this case, every encounter has 5% chance to give you hidden ability.

 

It's like flipping a coin. You flip once, and the chance to get a head is 50%, and you got a head. Then you flip it again, does that mean you WILL get a tail? No, it's still possible to get another head, the chance is still 50% every time you flip a coin.

 

If 5 out of 100 WILL have hidden ability, that's not chance, that's a guarantee :Grin:

We are talking about percentage. So we are not talking about a dogmatic truth: it's obvious that 5% does not means the certainty to find 5 goldeen with hidden ability every 100 encounter, but that what an example made by the guy who seems not to have very clear how does it works. You have not certainty because we are talking about percentege, so about fortuity.
