So I forgot to take off the exp share before starting the hoenn story. Is it possible to get that exp share off the pc pokemon now or is there some way I can get it off? A real pain to level up without it now.

Unfortunately, there is no way to take the item off the locked Pokémon. When entering a new region, you are warned that any held items equipped to your Pokémon will be locked alongside the Pokémon.

You'll have to get the 8th Hoenn badge to be able to retrieve your Exp. Share. I'm sure this isn't the response you were hoping for, but please try to understand.
