Having a lot of issues since I just started. Tried looking online. The guides all seem full of misinformation, at best.

I'm up to Lt. Surge.
Problem is, I'm blocked out of Diglett's Cave entirely because some random NPC won't let me proceed farther.
In the normal games, at the very least I can enter the cave to get a Diglett for leveling.
But in this case, I seemingly have to go ALL the way back to Mt. Moon which is a horrible design, at best. Just to get a low level Sandshrew/Geodude, then find a place to train them. But...where?

XP share is going, but I need somewhere to actually use a Ground/Rock to level.

Guides online are no help.
Viridian Forest is too weak.

Trying areas around Cerulean by the type matching sucks and from what someone else is saying, switching out (the traditional method in the games, is broken in PRO to where you get drastically less XP if you do this, something about the formula used)
10-20 it says Route 6 as my only option, but that's no good because it's full of grass/flying/water pokemon and I'm trying to level ground/rock.

And I'm needing level 30 or so for Surge.
But 20-30 the guides say Pokemon Tower or Diglett Cave. Which, I can't enter either of these, because the Tower is off beyond Rock Tunnel, iirc. And Diglet's Cave has been blocked by the game devs.

I can get the game is supposed to be grindy. But why the arbitrary roadblocks for new members to make them struggle more? It's not exactly fun.

Go to Cerulean and move to the right to route 10 where there are wild pokemon level 22~25 that are quite good to level up.

Yeah, no. Doesn't work like that in this game. The devs put deliberate roadblocks to prevent stuff like this from happening.

You cannot go east of Cerulean because it tells you that you need Flash.
You cannot get Flash or use it without beating Surge.
You can't even enter Diglett's Cave because they put an NPC in to stop you and force you to face Surge first.

Have you fought all NPC trainers possible?

If yes, how many days have passed since then? Every week NPC and Gym Leaders reset and can be fought again.

Also you can fight the Copycat NPC of every city quite often. Whenever the gym leader of that city is defeated, it's possible to fight the Copycat again.. Sometimes that happens fast.

We are under an event atm, meaning there's also XP share enabled to every Pokemon on the party. First Pokemon gets 100% of that ΧΡ, while the rest get 50% each.

You can use another Pokemon with a type advantage to the places you said to level up, and your rest party will get XP too.

just to let you know that you are lucky to have exp share at the time which is very helpful on levelling whole party. the old player or player that doing story without exp share party have more struggling than you to do levelling and somehow they made it and enjoying the game. btw did you already fight all the npc in the ss anne ship as they gave a lot of exp and you should be ready to fight surge after that, unfortunately nothing you can do other than grinding level if your poke is under level to face surge. spent some time to do the level as grinding is big part of the game. goodluck!

Only played for 2 days, so nothing has reset yet.

I just did the mind-numbing low level Pokemon grind until I was able to beat Surge.

Normally I would have used Dugtrio in Diglett's Cave to help get levels faster, but that was blocked off.

My only issue is when they block off access to areas that would help with leveling, to make things harder. Which is what seems to be the case here. MMO Grind isn't really an excuse for stuff like that, to me. Like Diglett's Cave was a common leveling area before Surge in the games, but that's been denied to inflate the difficulty (or more accurately, the grind time)

Doing that in later regions, after you've had time to acclimate, seems reasonable. But it's less so with Kanto. And the issue I faced was not realizing I was blocked out from getting a Diglett to use against Surge. So instead I had to walk ALL the way back to Mt. Moon to get a Sandshrew, then train that one up to help against him.

Stuff like this seems like it needs to be addressed. Especially with how bikes are locked behind $60k (unless you wait until you can catch a Ditto, which is around the time you are able to go to Cinnabar, iirc.)

It's not that it's difficult. It's just the artificial roadblocks imposed. In the original design you could have gone towards Rock Tunnel to help level, even if you don't have flash to actually get through the tunnel. But the devs of this deliberately blocked that area off to stop this and make progress take longer.

They did the same with Diglett's Cave, which was always designed as a place to pick up a Ground-type if you needed it, before Surge. But again, they blocked that access off with really no good reason behind it.

Aside from "Pay us so you can get boosted XP, so your leveling is more akin to normal and not a grinding slog."

Just seems like it's not a good look for beginners to run up against stuff like that.

Not sure what you mean with "MMO stuff can't do stuff like that" i mean thousands of players already make it through and they are more struggle than you since they doing it without exp share and they made it through. Most of them just train their poke slowly 1 by 1 on route 6 even though they give it less exp, thats what it called grinding . While you having a really great buff at the time with exp party share and yet still complaint how to level. Try do it slowly and enjoy the challenge instead of blaming dev for blocking the path, as that was normal thing doing on purpose to pass through certain points you must beat the checkpoint. And its fan made game dont compare it with original game as it have different developer. Train your poke on route 6. Goodluck!

Hi. Thank you very much for contacting us about your issue. Your have our apologies for the delay of response.

First off, kind thank you to @Doah , @Torarudean and @Lugario for listing many useful ways to level given the current situation.

The issues you pointed out are justifiable and understandable. To level up during your early beginnings can sometimes be hard and long. When you just start without any prior experience, it can understandably seem a bit overwhelming. You don't have other strong levelled Pokémon to help you and must go with your Starter and other Pokémon you catch along in your adventure. Thankfully, as other players mentioned, there are different strategies that were designed and thought out to help players during their adventures, ease their training and not leave them resourceless (all the Routes and Maps mentioned by the other players were good examples). With that information, I understand maybe sometimes it can be hard given the Typing of the Pokémon you want to level and the Typing of the Wild Pokémons in the Route, but despite a bit of XP loss you can always switch out.

Buying Coins to buy Membership or EXP Potions is optional, and an option only. There are many perfectly adequate ways to keep on leveling without the use of any donation. One method some players may forget is the Event Island (Christmas, Easter, Valentine, Summer or Halloween, currently Valentine at the time of this post), accessible from any Port City (Vermillion, Olivine, Lilycove or Canalave). In Kanto, it will be accessible as soon as you have Cut, just below the Vermillion City Gym. There are decently-levelled Pokémon in the first Maps of the Event Islands that can make for some good early training. Our community also offers many useful guides written by players and Staff alike  in the Game Guide section of our Forum ( https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/forum/13-game-guide/ ) who wanted to help other players, whether it's in the story progression, monetary aspect, Quest guides, PvP, etc. In your case, I will link you a very know and useful one about levelling:  https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/173878-leveling-zones-guide-for-newbies/

Just to note, Ditto is available to catch before reaching Cinnabar Island. You can try and catch one in Route 8 (left of Lavender City) after defeating Lt. Surge. Once you get one, Old Biker Steven (the NPC for the Bike Voucher) will trade you your Ditto and 40,000 Pokédollars for a Bike Voucher.

I am glad to see that you were able to beat Surge. I don't know where you currently are in the Story, but you will reach Fuschia City before long and you might pass through Route 13. There, you will find the Trainer Tower located top-left when you reach the little wooden passageway. The Trainer Towers are very nice spots to level when you are prepared and despite having a little fee to enter, the XP you'll gain overall will surely make it worth it. You can find one in every region:  https://wiki.pokemonrevolution.net/index.php?title=Trainer_Towers

You have the right to have your own opinions about how the Staff handles the game, but we ask players to remain respectful when vocalizing them publicly. We are always here to help, but we ask that it is asked and vocalized in a polite, respectful manner that does not denigrate nor the players, Developpers or the Staff team.

Remember that there is always a helpful community around you that I'm confident will always do it's best to help you as best as they can. You can always ask here in the Forum or the Chat in-game.

We hope the information provided will be helpful to you. My thanks again to the players who helped answer, much appreciated.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any further queries and I wish you good luck in your adventures!
