Trainers who started not with pika were given the chance to get a mega stone for their starter in the beginning of this game. However, they got removed since they are not working yet but will eventually brought back into the game.

 

As the mega stones were given, all of the pika starters were yelling and crying because of the "unfairness" and now its the exact opposite.

Yes, you don't need Frisk, it only for know pokemon hold item.

So when you put your pokemon with frisk into battle does a message appear saying that mankey is holding an item?
