Recycle don't give the item back after finishing battle

Im using a porygon with recycle and cherri berry. When i get paralyzed and the berry is used, I use recycle and the item comes back but even when the item isn't used again in battle, after i finish the battle the item dissapeared from porygon. 

It is an intended mechanic or a bug?

This is an intended mechanic. When an item is consumed in a battle, such as the sequence of events you described with the Cherri Berry, the item is recovered only for the duration of the battle. Once the battle is over the item does not remain with your Pokemon and this mechanic is intended.

 

If you wish you gather more Cherri Berries, you can get them in the following ways:

• Headbutting Trees
• Cherri Berry Patches
• Trading with other players
