Suggestion: Improve Berry Availability and Reduce Unnecessary EV Training Grind

Featured Replies

'd like to suggest a few quality-of-life changes to Berries and Vitamins, mainly aimed at reducing unnecessary grind and making more options viable for PvP.

I don't think PRO should remove its grind completely. Grinding is part of the game's identity. However, I think some systems could be made more accessible so players spend more time playing and making decisions, rather than repeatedly farming resources.

1. Make specific Berries easier to obtain

One of the biggest problems is that if I want a specific Berry, I may have to spend a considerable amount of time farming before I can actually use it.

Instead of only reducing Berry prices across the board, I'd like to see some way to directly obtain specific Berries, or at least make their individual farming methods much more accessible.

For example, Berries such as:

  • Custap Berry
    (how i can farm it?!)
    araquanid, are crying for it.

  • Salac Berry

  • Iapapa Berry

  • Colbur Berry

  • And other Berries with legitimate competitive/PvP applications

could have a more straightforward way of being obtained.

These aren't necessarily game-breaking items. They simply provide additional strategic options for players who want to experiment with different Pokémon and sets.

*maybe you can chosen you bcc reward, or buy in excavation.

Possible solutions

There could be:

  • A shop where players can purchase specific Berries

  • A rotating Berry shop

  • Berry packs with a choice of which Berry to receive

  • A more efficient way to farm specific Berries

  • NPCs that exchange common resources for specific Berries

  • A weekly selection of competitive Berries

The exact implementation is up to the staff.

The important part is giving players a reliable way to work toward the Berry they actually want.

2. Reduce Vitamin prices

I'd also like to suggest reducing the price of Vitamins.

EV training is something players have to do repeatedly, especially if they play PvP and frequently build different Pokémon.

The strategic part is deciding:

  • Which stats to invest in

  • How many EVs to use

  • Which moveset to run

  • Which nature to use

  • How the Pokémon fits into the team

Having to spend a large amount of time and money performing the actual EV training itself doesn't add much decision-making.

3. Allow Vitamins to be used until 252 EVs

Another change I'd strongly recommend is allowing Vitamins to be used until a stat reaches 252 EVs.

For example, if I want to max Attack, I should be able to use Attack Vitamins until reaching 252 EVs in Attack.

The normal 510 total EV limit would still apply.

This wouldn't remove the strategy of EV training. It would simply make the process much less repetitive.

Why make these changes?

I think PRO could benefit from reducing what I would call "unnecessary grind."

There is a difference between:

Grinding that creates gameplay

and

Grinding that exists mainly because the system requires repetitive actions.

Hunting Pokémon, exploring, battling, PvP, quests, making money, trading, etc. can all be meaningful activities.

But if I already know exactly which Pokémon, EV spread and Berry I want to use, spending a large amount of time simply obtaining the necessary consumables can become a barrier to actually playing with that Pokémon.

Making PRO more immediate without removing its identity

I don't think PRO needs to become an instant-gratification game.

The goal isn't to remove progression or make everything free.

Instead, I think some systems could be more immediate and accessible, allowing players to get to the interesting part of the game faster.

If I want to try a new PvP Pokémon, I want to spend my time thinking:

"What team can I build around this?"

rather than:

"How long will it take me to farm the Vitamins and specific Berries I need?"

Making Berries easier to target and reducing EV-training friction could also encourage players to experiment more.

Instead of having one competitive Pokémon that took days to prepare, players could potentially have several different Pokémon and actually test different strategies.

In short

Keep the meaningful grind. Reduce the repetitive grind.

  • Make specific competitive Berries easier to obtain.

  • Improve the farming method for Berries such as Custap, Salac, Iapapa and Colbur.

  • Reduce Vitamin prices.

  • Allow Vitamins to be used up to 252 EVs in a stat.

  • Keep the 510 total EV limit.

  • Encourage experimentation and PvP variety.

I believe these changes could make PRO feel more modern and accessible without taking away what makes the game special.

Less unnecessary grinding → more experimentation → more actual Pokémon gameplay.
