I tried downloading the Mac client via download page but it won't work on my iPhone 6

Well obviously. There isn't support nor will even be supported in the future as IPhone Development is quite strict due to the fact Pokemon isn't Team Revolution's IP which Apple will decline it's support officially via their App Store and the fact it's specs are quite low and wouldn't be able to run the game.
