Description and Message

Environment:

Arch Linux 4.6.2-1-ARCH, 3yo thinkpad (x-230), no dedicated graphics.

Description:

The client does not play any sound at all - no map, no building, fights etc. Everything else works. I triple checked the in-game settings/options dialogue, nothing relevant to change or enable there. For what I can see, everything just works fine, except there is no sound.

Questions:

Do I need to install or register codecs for the client? Which ones? Or compile from source?

Try reinstalling the game and follow this guide: https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24962

Also in case you haven't check your sound mixer or whatever it is called on Linux. The game might be muted.

I don't have a Linux system, have Windows. But I had sound troubles as well. Reinstalling fixed 'em. ^^;

Hope this helped.

Hey folks,

thanks for your replies so far. I tried the above (reinstall + check soundsystem). My sound still does not work.

Generally my sound works, I listen to music etc. The game works -- except, well, the sound.

Maybe there is a Linux user out there and willing to comment on this?

Thanks :)

Hi! Here's an entire thread dedicated to PRO users playing on Linux.

Unfortunately I play on a Mac and have no knowledge of the Linux client. However, you could leave a comment asking for advice/solutions in that thread, since there are several Linux users there. Best of luck!

Hey!

Yeah, I read through that thread and already PMed the author (marcylene). Since that thread is a guide on how to get things to work in general, I opened this thread with a dedicated question/problem. The thread you mentioned does not answer my question. My problem appears to not be related to setup, rather I assume it to be a bug. Which is why I posted my Linux Kernel version etc.

EDIT:

I replied to the Linux setup tutorial, here.

Marcy pointed my in the right direction. One may have to have 32bit libs for pulse audio.

In my case that would be the multilib package 'lib32-libpulse' (arch linux).

This issue is fixed :)
