Finishing the game with only the original 151 pokémon

261839 Do you think this is doable?

I've only ever known the first gen pokémon. And purely through nostalgic feels - I would like to finish, and compete with only the original 151 pokémon.

How much will I be hurting myself? And is it doable?

Well, it's certainly doable when you complete the Kanto region. However, once you start both Johto and Hoenn you are forced to choose a starter from that region. You will also meet a lot more Pokemon that are native to that region so the original 151 might me a bit more scarce.

Hi,

What do you mean, "finish" ? Pokemon has no real end, unless you assume that having all the available badges and finish the 3 leagues would be the "end".. But you can't do that without leaving Kanto.

So, no. Not doable.

And, actually, you can't even get to Mewtwo (the "real" one) without finishing Johto. Therefore, Mew neither. ;)

EDIT: After reading JollyolNathan's post, I realized you didn't mean to stay in Kanto forever, my bad :c

I'm not sure how this game works (yet, My charmander is only lvl 11 :P). But can't I keep using my same pokémon? And level those up?

Or how do these different zones work? You lose all your pokémon when you enter a new zone?

EDIT: Mmmh, I guess with "finish" I mean - Defeat all the gyms etc. (Ofc not completing my pokédex)

And If I'd want to PvP. Would I be able to compete with only the original 151? Or are there some OP pokémon from the next gens?

When you beat Kanto's Elite 4 and choose to start Johto, all your Kanto Pokemon are locked in your PC until you get all 8 badges of the new region. So, you're pretty much forced to use the new Pokemon. Of course after you finish all 3 regions you can use any Pokemon you want.

And the first generation has some (obviously not all) of the strongest Pokemon, so you will be good to go.

Is there any place to see the pokémon that are considered strong?

Planning on making a team like: Charizard, poliwrath, primeape (or hitmonlee/chan), nidoking - Haven't figured out the rest yet

If we cumulate the three region, there are to much of strong poke that can be used , and its also the players strategy who make of a decent pokemon a war machine.

So a list would be to complicated to make, as some pokemons arent considered as the "best" but, added with other poke, they can become the best ( idk if what I just said is clear ).

Therefore, I advise you to check at this page, since you want to mainly catch kanto region, this will help u to find the pokemons you prefer in the 3 regions : https://pokemonrevolutiononlineguide.jimdo.com/
