Translation

I think it would be a great idea to translate the texts of this game into other languages, because it's a global game and some potential players decide not to play it because it's only in English.

I believe that some players would volunteer to translate texts and supervise translations in exchange for some reward ingame, I would do it for example.

I've noticed that lately there are less people playing and this would be a good way to attract new players.

Hey,

The main story will always be in english. The only thing that might come in the future is a translation of the interface and options menu.

Are they based on the ideals you cling to? Or are they based on actual truths? And if they are... How much of the truth do you think you know?[/glow]

Hello Moltisanti,

i found this while looking through the nine pages that came out after I searched for "Translation", as well as read this first -> READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A SUGGESTION!

Adding and translating other languages in game

PRO's main storyline will be kept English as the widely accepted "official" language in the game, even by bilingual players. Only minor things (menus, options, etc) will be translated; however, there is no estimated time frame for this, and it's considered very low-priority.

We've had many suggestions for community-submitted translations to be implemented. However, the community would need access to proprietary code to even think about translating parts of the dialogue, and we will never give out access to our code that way. Since that won't happen, players will just have to wait until staff is ready to start adding translations ourselves.

Another point that’s been brought up is a request for the community to be able to access dialogue scripts, rather than the actual code. However, this will still be denied. First, only a few staff members can access the code, and it takes time to collect the dialogue scripts line-by-line from the code, time that could be better utilized doing other things. Second, PRO is still in development. So instead of focusing on that priority, said staff members would need to divert time and energy away from that to collect dialogue instead, representing a waste of resources. Third, even with a community translation in place, there’s a huge amount of NPCs and story dialogue scripts in PRO that are always being edited and tweaked. Constantly having to update translations alongside these edits would represent a waste of time and resources. Finally, community translations do not guarantee quality control - staff members would need to recheck the dialogue translations after the community has submitted them (adding even more work, which is a huge burden considering the PRO staff already lacks human resources as is).

Instead of pitching these ideas for community translations, the best solutions are to learn English, watch Youtube guides with translations, or join a guild/custom chat channel with your specific language. In fact, this is a huge reason why guilds/custom chat channels exist in MMO games. Hopefully this helps further clarify our stance on translations.

Have a nice day!

An acronym for "random number generator" or "random number generation", it refers to the process by which computers generate apparently random numbers, essentially the computer equivalent of 'chance'.

I understand that decission, but I think it would be a great idea to attract new players. Even with guilds there are a lot of persons that don't want to play a game that they can't understand, nobody is gonna learn a new language just to play one game. The community would not need access to proprietary code to translate, just receive a copy of the texts an send those texts in the new language. Anyway I understand that even menu translation is low priority because there are more important things to do for now, and it doesn't affect to me, I'll enjoy the game just the same.

It's sure that a game that provide multi-languages can attract new players, but I don't think it can attract much . The people that don't want to play a game just because they can't understand might not able to play this game for long even if it's translated, I have friends that can't read English but still enjoying this game, for the storyline ,I'm sure there are guide that exist out there with different kind of languages, they will able to find a guide or community that can help them as long as they are interest in this game. If a people that don't have much interest, even you give them a well translated game and guide ,they might not play it for long time.

Well I don't have that perspective at all. I know people that decided to play a similar game (I can't write the name) instead of this game just because of the language, and in my opinion this game is soooo much better and complete than "the other game" (still can't write the name), but people want to understand the game that they are playing.

Honestly I don't see why you can't ask to some trustable players help to translate menu and stuff like that in at least 4/5 other big languages. I mean, nice opinion you have about the playerbase.

I mean we are not all scammers or bad people that will put curse inside the text you will put in the game.
