Welcome friend!! Good luck on your pokemon journey!

:xwelcomesign:

Also in regards to your spawn rate suggestion, ghastly is too good to be common in an MMO, perhaps there are other pokemon that would make good common spawns in pokemon tower that aren't as powerful, but not as boring as rattata, such as drowzee or misdreavus

Hey there,

Thanks for your suggestions, but unfortunately I don't think what you are talking about will change and here is why.

First off, you should not that the cool down time of "essential" trainers are already reduced by a whole lot. The cool down of normal trainers is 1 week, while the cool down of gym leaders is 120 or 140 minutes. First off, this is something that is actually somewhat of a positive point in my opinion. This cool down timer really kind of forces the player to do something else, whether the player chooses to go lvl up their best pokemon or catch some new ones and lvl those up is completely up to them. They can even just go offline if they want, but they must note that this of course will not make their pokemon stronger and gym leader pokemon do not give any xp (so if you kill 1 or 2 pkmn every attempt this will not help them lvl up).

Also, the cool down is something that helps this game become more like an MMO. It means that the game cannot be rushed as hard and it is not too easy, like most pokemon games are. The cool downs also encourage the player to maybe start socializing a bit more which enhances the game experience as well.

As for the rattata spawn rates, I agree that this can get annoying, but it fits in the style of making the game a bit slower. Players who strive to catch all pokemon will have to spend a lot of time on each route trying to find the rare and will maybe look for ways to make this more enjoyable, by doing it with a group for example. These area all ways for the game to say "hey, go make some friends and stop playing this on your own", because if you do, you might as well just go play pokemon omega ruby.

Sorry for this reaction, I have tried explaining as best I could and I'm definitely not trying to say that your ideas are bad, they just don't fit into the style of this game.

Good luck on your further ventures, friend! :)

I completely understand what you mean, but try to understand that there *isn't* much else to do besides fighting wild pokemon that are extremely underleveled (compared to the user's pokemon). So in the end, what this does is that it makes us log off for 120 minutes. Because sometimes, we lose because of a critical (for example) despite our pokemon being powerful enough to win. This makes the game extremely boring especially if you're in the beginning. In the end, people end up logging off for two hours instead of spending those 2 hours having fun in the game =)

I must agree, I myself logged out after losing to the second gym as well, mainly because there aren't really any high-rewarding tasks to do (and I don't really wanna catch so many of the early game pokemon like eg. caterpie). I think the best solution to this would be to add more rewarding objectives which don't necessarily lvl up your pokemon, but for example give you more money, so you can buy your bike faster. I think maybe side quests should do the trick (maybe add at least 1 per city to entertain people who have to wait for 2 hours). I'm also gonna be posting a new suggestion in a few minutes which should give players a bit more to do while waiting as well so keep an eye out for that.

Okay I might have expressed myself wrongly here. If you think Gastly is too powerful to be "common", make it rarer. That's fine, really! But why must we keep finding rattatas there? There are some other ghost type pokemon, less powerful than Gastly that we could find there, instead of the boring Rattatas we find on any grass patch =) Like Buddha said:

It would be much more interesting to find Misdreavus and Drowzee while looking for Gastly. Instead, we find Rattatas all the time. That's the problem I was trying to point out here, apologies if I did so wrongly :P ahaha With that in mind, what do you think?

I agree rattatas give a bad feeling. Finding a rattata is the most useless thing that can happen, but honestly finding misdreavus and drowsee the whole time will eventually make them annoying as well. Plus, their value will decrease and then fans of those pokemon will start complaining (especially evos of misdreavus have some fans I think). Basically, at least one pokemon has to be put in a worthless spot and spawn everywhere, otherwise the other pokemon can't be as rare as they are. And in this case that pokemon is rattata.

Unless this was changed in the last week or two, then this statement is completely false.

While some trainers do not give XP (mostly storyline related trainers), the gym leaders DO give XP when defeating them.

Whoah, we're not done yet with this discussion :P

First, you're wrong. You may not realise it but the only reason you hate rattata is because he spawns a lot. You said yourself that you agree there are a lot of rats in old, abandoned towers. Just changing the pokemon that spawns a lot will only change the pokemon you dislike, not change the fact that its irritating to find that pokemon that spawns a lot.

Second,

Spawn rates always need to add up to 100%. So if you want a spawn rate of 2% for gastly then you need all other Pokemon's spawn rates to add up to 98%. Now for this example let's say there are only 2 pokemon. Gastly and rattata. Gastly has a spawn rate of 2% and rattata has a spawn rate of 98%. Of course, finding rattatas is gonna be annoying. Now, we replace rattata with misdreavus, but we don't want Gastly to spawn more, so we don't change the spawn rates. Now, misdreavus has a spawn rate of 98% and Gastly 2%. Okay, at first finding a misdreavus is a bit cooler, but would you really feel different if you find 98 rattatas or 98 misdreavussus before you found a Gastly?

Hmmm, I guess this could be true as I do not pay as much attention to that kind of stuff... Still I think my arguments are valid and the timer should not be changed :P

This is not about always finding common pokemon. This is about finding common pokemon that *do not make sense* in that place. If I'm in the Tower, I should be finding Ghost types, not Rattatas everywhere. It feels like the tower is just a common patch of grass with the occasional Ghost type...

Okay, I agree there should be more variety, but rattatas shouldn't be removed.

Wow this topic getting complicated fast.

Lets simplify things.

- Only absolutely essential NPCs have no cooldown time, they also give no exp either. Blame people for wanting to exploit things all the time, this is the reason gym leaders have a small cooldown time.

- Gastly is the only first generation pokemon that is a ghost type. Pokemon tower is in kanto (generation 1 region), so why would we make mistreavus (gen 2) more common than a gastly in its native region? I believe there are more ghosts to catch than just gastly, but since they arent native to kanto theyre harder to find. Gengar is also one of the stronger pokemon in the game, and with a mega form too, its rarity has been adjusted to measure for this.

- You're talking as if this is a finished product. This isnt. We havent even released the game yet, so things will and do change on a constant basis.

- Spawns dont work on a percentage rate. They work on a probability scale. Lets juet say for example rattata is 0.1 (10%) and gastly is 0.005 (0.5%) this is the chance u will find a pokemon *per-tile*. Spawns will never add up to 100%, or else u would literally almost find a pokemon every step u take.

Hopefully ive answered everything :p

P.S. whoever said rattata is useless...shame on u. Raticate has a good movepool, good abilities, great speed base, and also basically u can troll the hell out of someone with a focus sash, endeavour and quick attack
