Good Evening,

 

I have an idea for a more challenging boss. A boss that only rewards those that have truly dedicated their time to the game.

 

This boss, for amusement - we will call [glow=red]Thor[/glow]. [glow=red]Thor[/glow] will not have a fixed team. Instead his team will consist of 6 random Megas, Primals, and Legendaries. [glow=red]Thors[/glow] location will be random / rotating every 12hrs to promote exploration and communication throughout the community. [glow=red]Thor[/glow] will laugh at anyone with less than 750hrs playtime and an incomplete Kanto/Johto/Hoenn dex. For those with 750+hrs and full dex, you will have two interaction options.

 

1[glow=green][i'm sorry, you look too strong - i'll be on my way now.][/glow]

2[glow=green][You look like a punk, 100k says I can beat you!][/glow] (Yes, you gamble 100k to fight him)

 

If you lose, [glow=red]Thor[/glow] will tell you that you remind him of a guy named Youngster Joey.

 

If you win, he will offer a choice of great items.

 

[glow=yellow]Reward Ideas:[/glow]

 

1: Once available: Choice of Mega Evolution Item

2: Choice of Legendary Mount

3: I want a shiny pokemon. The pokemon would be entirely random. (minus pokes that cannot be shiny) You will not know what it is until you select this option.

 

I have two years of computer science under my belt; therefore, I do understand this wouldn't be an easy feat. Of course, I am not considering the work it would take to implement this. Though, if something of the sort would even be possible, I think it would be a great addition to pokemon [glow=blue]MMO[/glow].

- Thor already has his boss (Arnie)

- the rewards are ridiculously high

- the idea of a rotating boss seems nice to me but not sure if this is possible

- the requirements/the team is basically what the new Sevii Island boss is

Thanks for your response. I agree rewards are high and they're just ideas; however, what I am going for here is much higher difficulty to go along with it. The sevii island boss is difficult but you have the option to prepare for the fight knowing exactly what to expect. Each pokemon in sequence, movesets etc are posted on forums decreasing the difficulty. While this new boss would have similar pokemon, the randomness I am suggesting will change that - significantly. It would be like fighting a new boss everytime you face him. That small nervousness of not knowing what to expect. And waging 100k (or whatever is deemed appropriate) makes it even more stringent. It is almost like adding a pve boss but putting a pvp element into it. And, I am not following how Arnie == Thor. But I haven't played near as long as you so I am sure im missing something.

 

edit: adding instead of additional post: There is an npc in pokemon tower that will (in the future) give a Mega Evo item for 200k. So honestly, beating the boss I am attempting to describe doesn't sound like a ridiculous unrealistic reward.

pretty sure Thor wanted to have random teams/leads for the Sevii boss.

 

The Admin Thor = Arnie, same human being just changed the name.

 

The idea is pretty nice but not sure if it is possible, charging for a boss with better rewards and the possibility to lose would be something nice.

Id like to add:

 

I am completely against just handing out great / rare items in MMO's. I have an extensive history playing many MMOs, for many years. What I would like added is that sense of accomplishment. I worked so hard for this. This took forever! Etc. That element you get from other MMOs and where this game is lacking (in my opinion). Pokemon in general - ivs, abilities etc - all the rng, makes everything about luck and not effort, loyalty, and dedication. While, my OP is somewhat vague (at least with all the ideas I have), I am trying to come up with ideas to make things feel more rewarding. Raising difficulty and rewards to coincide is the simplest solution. And I am not talking about giving a boss a Togekiss with 90% flinch Air Slashes. (As far as difficulty goes)

 

Perhaps I am alone in my thinking. Which is fine - I am getting a little burned out anyways. 560hrs in 5 weeks. I am just looking for ways to prolong my selfish obsession with pokemon, now that there is an MMO.
