So, my suggestion is pretty simple. There are 3 regional ports, Vermilion, Olivine and Lilicove. From Lilicove, you can travel to both others. But why you can only travel to Lilicove from the other two? Shouldn't going to Kanto-Johto and reverse be an option? It's not something big to implement I believe and it's a small quality change.

Also, that's a secondary thought, you could also add Ciannabar in there, since it doesn't have a subway transport method.

There is no reason for this to not exist though as well. I have a free pass so If I want to rush Vermilion from Olivine, I go to Lilicove first and then head to Vermilion. Without a free pass, this will cost me an extra trip.

+1, I hate this as well, no point in not having this option if you have the Teleporter Quest done
