You will want False Swiper pokémons to put the wild pokémon down to 1HP before fainting, so you can send the pokémon you want to level into battle.

But you'll also want to not have to wait too many turns until it faints, so you can send the other sooner.

High Atk pokémons with low defensive stats will then be preferred!

In the example below, we will use:

Cerulean Cave > Dragons Shrine > Dragons Den > Mount Silver

The main goal being to level faster, you don't want to spend your time wandering to the xp area:

Prefer Cerulean Cave over Dragons Shrine due to its better accessibility.

If you did not unlock these areas yet, prefer Dragons Den over Mount Silver, as you can take the subway to Blackthorn, but not to Mt.Silver.

× What is a Focus Sash? ×

When this item is held by a Pokémon, and if the Pokémon has full HP but is hit by an attack that would knock it out, this item prevents the holder from fainting and keeps it at 1HP.

The Focus Sash disappears after use.

Using a toxic orb (preferable to speed up the fainting), flame orb or black sludge helps your false swiper die quicker. Usually within 7 turns or so for toxic orb.

Parasect is probaby the best poke for this strat, as it can put enemy to sleep right before fainting itself. Otherwise, can use magnemite with sturdy and use paralyse wave, and if gets another move, flash (quick claw will help get an extra move in)

This will give a pokemon without priority moves a chance to get a hit in.

As an additional 3rd method, use quick claw with a 1/5 chance. I take 2.false swipers and 4 low lvl mons when using quick claw.

Also if ur spd is close to the creeps u want to kill. Then you can use stun spore/twave to 1/2 their spd.

whimsicott_zps0a924cf9_gif_c200_by_who_datfatcat-dc5xh1u.gif

i use a Whimsicott [Jumpluff is the alternative]

  1. > Toxic (if u run leech seed first it doesnt work)
  2. > Leech Seed
  3. > / (Cotton Guard - dont do damage)
  4. > / (Cotton Guard - dont do damage)
  5. > Memento
  6. Select poke to lvl up and let Leech Seed do the job

just follow the steps and dont miss memento @turn 5

I use Bisharp and have it False Swipe to 1HP, Thunder wave them, then use Scary face 3 times and wait until Bisharp faints. Pretty sure almost any pokemon will go first, especially if they have choice scarf on.

I mainly just hunt Psyduck and Golducks in cerulean cave though.
