So let's say someone makes a guild, with a name, x amount of members, everyone's enjoying themselves and perhaps each other... :Ambivalent:

Then what? :Bored:

How about an option for guild members to donate money to the guild. :D:

So that the guild officials can then use that money to buy a guild base/island/cave/etc... The possibilities are endless. (these would however all include tall grass AND water)

After which, the guild members can complete some daily/weekly/monthly guild quests and/or toss in some coin, to make that guild base/island/cave/etc more interesting! :Heart-eyes:

By more interesting, I was thinking about some options to decide which Pokemon are to spawn in the guild map's grass and water areas. (up to a maximum of perhaps 4 or 5 pokes for grass and the same amount for water, map-wide)

These things would of course be expensive, hard to achieve, etc etc.  For the sake of having something to do, as unified, active team, aside from it being fun and interesting, and perhaps even a status symbol for the guild and its members! :y:

And the Pokemon that you can choose from, varying of course in price, would in my preference not include the common-throughout-the-game pokes such as Pidgey, Spearow, Rattata... But rather, for example, 2 uncommons, 1 or 2 rares, 1 very rare. :Shy:

This is all open to further suggestion, of course. But I think I made a nice start.

Nice idea. Perhaps the mappers can make one island. There will be multiple maps that use the same island template, but will have a name with respect to their guild. You can have a ferry guy at each port city (Vermilion, Olivine) that will transport you to your guild map if your player is tagged with a guild. Then the members of the guild can hang out in one area.

Then to add spawns, the guild can have a fund that is filled by members of the guild. The guild unlocks Pokemon by buying the rights to spawn that Pokemon. The rarity will be similar to how it is in the actual location. For example, the guild can pay 2 million to include Eevee, but that Eevee is same rarity as the Kanto Safari Zone.

Perhaps if a guild is lucky enough to have a mapper as a member @Knuckles for Rare Hunters ;) they can make their own guild map instead of just a template island.

I like the idea but I don't know if it is completely fleshed out enough, you can make it sound good, but you haven't added anything limiting to it, that makes it a good feature, but something that isn't too good. For example, if you wanted this map to spawn certain pokemon for cash, there'd need to be some serious lines drawn, we couldn't have say a competitive PVP guild being able to spawn viable competitive pokemon all in one map, which I am sure is what would be their intentions. (and yes, even if you limited specifically to 5 pokemon for grass and water, that's still a high possibility of abuse for some pokemon that are easier to obtain that are still viably competitive.)

Also figuratively the goal here is that every map has a use, so by doing this, some maps become obsolete because the pokemon on that map spawn in a guild functioned island... So try to explain why this should happen and not why you want it to happen.

“Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.”

The biggest bottleneck that I see with the implementation of a huge project like this is the limitations, as Gawerty pointed out. It would be amazing to let every guild own their own house, but that is unlikely depending on the requirements to start a guild.

I don't really care for the idea of allowing guilds to spend money toward creating their own hunting grounds because it would create a huge disadvantage for solo players and smaller guilds.

A few things to think about

1. How important should guilds be to this game? Not everyone is interested in joining a guild, but could we increase activity levels by providing enough guild features without alienating solo players?

2. What should the requirements be for starting an in-game guild?

Based on those two questions, I'd suggest something similar to what RoyalHotness originally posted.

- Create a map with only a handful of guild houses on it (to start with), some wild grass (spawns TBD), and a few battle areas like the ones in Pewter/Cerulean.

- Make the map accessible to all players, but only allow guild members into their own house.

- Allow guild members to "buy" decorations for their yard (as well as inside the actual house), and create statues which act as trophies for tournaments won. This would serve as excellent advertising for players looking to join a guild.

Simply put, allowing EVERY guild to have a guild house isn't a realistic option. The resources required for something like that (staff manpower, staff time, server bandwidth, etc.) is just too much. But if you limit the number of in-game guilds which can own a house, then you can easily make something like this work. IMO, guilds with houses should be extremely dedicated. Reward the players for their achievements in an aesthetic way, but not in a way which forces players into a guild. Give certain guilds which have been here since the beginning this sort of honor to begin with, and make new guilds earn their house.

I could go on for days about topics like this, but I'll stop for now.

I've read all the replies, thanks everyone, for your interest in this topic!

I suggested this idea because a great many MMO players enjoy the idea of being part of a guild, and would gladly invest enormous amounts of time in it and pay even real cash for it.

It would mainly be for vanity purposes, and status symbols and perhaps streams and the like. Showing off. Which is something people pay for.

I saw this as a potentially viable way for the server budget to remain positive and maybe even generate a profit for further development.

Not for my personal entertainment. ;)

Some things to consider in this context:

-Only members can make guilds?

-Have to buy a guild map with real money?

The Pokemon that would spawn on these guild maps (or maps with guild 'houses' on them) would, as Engineer suggested, not be more special or more easily obtainable than they normally are in this game.

On the topic of all maps needing to have a purpose. Aside from the storyline, any quests that are there, or a multitude of things you could come up with to give any random map a purpose...

The whole guild idea would have to include some kind of incentive to spend time and money on obtaining it, because otherwise, what is the point of being or not being in a guild?

And for players who for whatever reason refuse to be part of any guild: they should not have to feel left out, because everything would still be possible elsewhere, albeit harder to do/obtain.

Comparable to the availability of Membership Pokemon in non-membership areas.

And the existing maps, like Safari Exclusive, where only Membership Pokemon are available. "They are available elsewhere, nothing else is on this map, what's the point?"

Everything above of course still remains open to suggestions. :thanks:
