  1. I've seen staff muting people for just stepping over the border a bit in chat. There is no sense of nuance, not all rule breaking is of the same caliber. But that's the point with the lawful evil, you cannot argue with it, because if you look at the rules the moderators were doing their job and theres nothing you can do to argue with that. In the real world there is argument over what is and isn't adult-content. Not all parents agree, let alone countries. The U.S. seems to be a lot more strict with foul language than Europe for example. Overprotection is also a thing and it's certainly present in this community. It's not a huge deal, but the problem is that you always have Eric Cartmans around who know very well how to exploit these rules and get people into trouble with it. You can confuse a joke for "harassment", and people know this. You can't be in a battle and say anything even remotely off-track to try and joke with your opponent, because you might be playing against someone who will immediately yell "reported!" and possibly get you into trouble. Said person might not even be offended by what you said, but just feels like causing you trouble. It's very toxic for anyone who has a sense of humor and that's too bad. But I do think that when there is a good reason to actually ban people, that's when this system shines, because it's outright ruthless.
  2. After playing this game for over a month here's a few pros and cons I've seen to it. Things I'd change and things I wouldn't. Feel free to submit your own. Pros: - The game is relatively glitch free, which is rare for a fan-made video game, - No breeding system is great. Good pokemon are actually rare, and let's be honest, pokemon like milktank laying eggs is a silly and quite frankly anti-educational idea for kids. - Staff responds quickly to almost everything. To be fair this can be a double edged blade (see cons) but it's nice when justice is server rightfully. - The game designers have taken some freedom with writing the story, which is better than just copy/pasting one of the pokemon games, - Some boss fights are challenging, especially early on, - Game actually starts from Gen I, and moves on from that, and we can chose pikachu, - The main menu is very nice looking. Cons: - Excessive anti-profanity rules, and excessive rule enforcment in general. Having a censor is fine (having a censor you can disable even better) but you can still get kicked after the censor has done its job? Really? - Due to this and due to most moderator's blind faith in the rules, some of them often fill in the Lawful Evil cliché at times (the Dolores Umbridge types). - An unreasonably large portion of the community is pretty stuckup or uptight. Backseat moderating, condescending attitudes, uncapable of taking any jokes. Possibly a by-product of the excessively strict rules. - Some of the soundtracks in game are awful and make it feel like we're in circus or something, - No option to join Team Rocket... we've been waiting for this forever! A fan made video game is the opportunity to make these things happen. - Some pokemon like Zapdos are unobtainable. This is a crime, everyone loves Zapdos!
  3. Not everyone can buy with real money, though. For them, MS price being too high IS a problem. Back in the old days we played Runescape and many other MMOs for years without membership, and that was a whole lot tougher than playing PRO without a membership. Being able to buy memberships with ingame money is something recent. And compared to older games, it's really a priviledge, not a problem. The problem is not being able to buy one at all. If you can't get a membership at all, then just wait it out until you have your own credit card and are able to buy one with a mere 5$.
  4. It's not a problem for an MMO to have an environment where people are at odds with each other. Every MMO needs a moderate amount of toxicity. It creates more immersion, gives people more of a reason to actually join a guild and fight other guilds. I like this idea of factions, but I think you should be able to join factions that already exist in game, like Team Rocket. You could also be able to join factions whose purpose is directly based on something about Pokemon, like Pokemon types (Team Water, Team Steel and so on). I think it's also important that you can only join one faction.
  5. So my Tentacool happens to have the right IVs for that specific build? Let's forget about what's popular and what isn't. Wouldn't a Tentacool with any nature that boosts defence work better? Also, where would you recommend training for HP and Defence?
  6. I wanted to find a Tentacool with calm nature and a lot of HP / defense so I could build a defensive entry hazard pokemon. However I found this instead: How would it fare with maxed speed and HP? Would it be better off with maxed speed and SPA? Or anything like 252 speed 125ish HP 125ish SPA?
  7. Welcome to PRO, Skedra. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the game so far. To answer your question, you increase Pokemon EVs by defeating other Pokemon in battle. Each Pokemon yields different EVs, so you'll want to battle against the right ones to train their EVs properly. For example, you get 1 Speed EV for defeating Rattata, and 1 HP EV for defeating Hoothoot. You can also find EV-reducing berries throughout the story which will decrease a certain EV by 10 points. For more detailed information, I'd recommend googling EVs and checking out this user-created guide. Good luck on your journey! So that means that if you make mistakes, you can still correct your pokemon's EVs?
  8. I've been trying to do what I can without guides. But some things like how to train EV's are useful to know because it can mess up your pokemon in the long run. Is there maybe a place around here where people blog?
  9. That would be abused by people with high level pokemon forcing newbies into battles. Imagine if you were farming your exp or crossing the map for some reason, and had people randomly bother you and possibly also take your money away? Yeah, everyone would disable that.
  10. Hello, I'm Skedra and I have just recently started out on Pokemon Revolution. Playing the RPG version of Pokemon is new to me, I had only played Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Snap (which I really loved) on the Nintendo 64. I have been playing Pokemon Showdown a lot recently and it brought me into playing this. It had been a long time since I had been addicted to a game like this. Revolution is a great game and I've been enjoying exploring the game without any guides or help for the pure fun of it. Still discovering how to build good Pokemon and such. Currectly I own a level 22 Noctowl, level 19 Wartortle, a Magikarp and a Butterfree which I am levelling. There is only one question I wanted to ask, because I might be screwing up my current pokemon's stats, how do I increase their EV's?
