I can't understand how's that unfair. In my humble opinion, it would be better towards the community if decisions were made also when it's not "PRO" who's responsible for a problem. To try and empathize with the players, make an investigation to make sure the truth of their words and then help them.
I'm not saying this just because this time something unfortunate happened to me, but generally.
If someone send an item with the mailbox but to wrong recipient, it would be their problem too and not for you to intervene? If someone spend 400k to wrongfully buy pokeball or repel, would it also be fair to restore? Because that would their own actions too and not something from you side.
Anyway, I don't wanna cause any harm and try to argue or debate this, it won't matter cause you already decided.
