But i highly recommend to go for standard play, just to have poke evolved count grow on your pokedex(75 evolve poke iguess) coz u need it to get mew. After u obtain the last badge from Johto all your pokes from Kanto get unlocked again and you can use them in both regions. P.S. As some guys said above if ur really in a struggle invest 30k+ into a high lvl Johto poke preferable fire type for a easier time towards Johto endgame. Also for E4 I suggest having a team knowing the following: fire/lightning/dragon/psychic moves. Check forums for the E4 pokes. Keep trying, its not supposed to get easier 2. As suggested there are people in Johto who you can buy from that sell decent level pokemon I don't know what outcome you expected with this topic, keep trying and if you still blackout then consider investing in a higher level pokemon from a seller in Johto. Just like in Kanto, you need to catch other Pokemon.
