As some guys said above if ur really in a struggle invest 30k+ into a high lvl Johto poke preferable fire type for a easier time towards Johto endgame. Also for E4 I suggest having a team knowing the following: fire/lightning/dragon/psychic moves. Check forums for the E4 pokes.

Sorry to see you think its hard and a Joke, but there are a couple of things you can do yourself to resolve this..

 

1. Keep trying, its not supposed to get easier

2. As suggested there are people in Johto who you can buy from that sell decent level pokemon

 

I don't know what outcome you expected with this topic, keep trying and if you still blackout then consider investing in a higher level pokemon from a seller in Johto.

Just like in Kanto, you need to catch other Pokemon. Don't just rely on Chikorita, especially since it's the worst starter in Johto.
