No, your characters will start from zero on the other server, where your progress on the one you are current using will remain intact.

If everything goes as planned, it will be in within a week.

Okay thanks, I may just get familer with the game some more than switch to the new server once it comes out.

It will most likely be another 1900 capacity server to play on. You would have to start fresh though.
