Run cancels fight

Hey there everyone!

 

So everyone knows the feeling. You're in a hurry to go somewhere, and you encounter tons of pokemon on the way getting there! In every battle you're running away anyway because theres no point in fighting them, but you have to wait for the battle scene animation to complete before you can click the run button. Here's where my idea comes in!

 

The idea is to, while the battle scene is going, be able to click the run button. Then the game does its usual thing where it determines if your run is successful and stuff like that, and if it is, it will while the battle scene is still playing, just immediately close the battle window so you can continue on your way where you're going. If the run was not successful, because for example the pokemon you put out is a too low level, the battle scene will just normally continue and your fight will go on :)

 

The best thing about this is that people who do not like the idea, which i would not understand why, will not have to use it or not even be influenced by it!

 

I hope to see this implemented because i always get very annoyed by all the battles :P

This is an amazing idea! I was thinking about this while making my way through Mt. Moon, because pokemon would pop up like every 4 seconds and the time to wait to click run was a little too long, and it made it really annoying. Devs, please implement this great idea! :Grin:

There is something to avoid battles, it's called Repel. You better use those, but the suggestion you made most likely won't be introduced.

I really don't see why not. If someone doesn't like it, then they dont have to use it. And what if you dont have money for a repel? Or dont want to spend your money on a repel? Why would you have to wait for the 3 second animation to complete before you can press run in the first place? :D:

Exactly as you said, it just takes 6 seconds, which isn't too long.

That is true , but if you encounter 50 pokemon on the way somewhere those 6 seconds turn into 5 minutes!

This is a bread and butter of Pokemon and always has been. Everyone will always want shortcuts but the game is supposed to be challenging, removing too many "annoying issues" makes the game just a flat and uncharacteristic game. You've likely seen the zubat meme around the internet (of thousands of zubats in a cave etc) - These things are brought about by a "rewarding accomplishment" feeling that's brought about by doing things such as "finally getting through Mt Moon" with the thoughts "gosh that was hard".

As LaFleur said, Repels are there if you want to avoid battles, if you "don't like using them" then you're asking to battle. if you "don't have the money for them" - go battle, they're super cheap and for around 1-2 repels you could get enough to go through Rock Tunnel easily, even if you get lost!

118468 Just open your options tab, go to "game" and scroll the dialogues speed to the max. It really quickens things up ;)

 

True but that doesnt speed up the battle scene

 

 

Honestly i still don't really get why so many people are against this. Its just a simple shortcut. If you dont like it, you dont use it... right? What people here are now saying is that you need to buy repels JUST to skip the animations. Thats just stupid and actually not what repels are for. They are to not encounter any pokemon, which can also be higher levels where you can't run anyways... :P
