Welcome to the Frequently Asked Story Questions Manual!

This manual is specifically made for Help chat helpers, Discord Moderators and anyone who is constantly helping in General Support or ingame or in Discord. This guide/manual aims to answer almost all possible story questions unrelated to specific pokemon, pvp stuff, bosses, or anything too in-depth. This guide just answers most Story questions that are repeated nonstop throughout Discord and Ingame. With this handbook, you should be able to help out any newbie! We don't tackle mechanics here, this will be tackled on in other guides.

This is the last part this guide will be divided in. This guide will try to cover Story related questions that are commonly asked nonstop everywhere. Here we will tackle the Sinnoh Region,  the last one! I will be editing this with possible new questions that may arise in the future. (like Missions and other optional stuff) Let’s begin!

How do I access Sinnoh?

You can follow a guide on how to access Sinnoh here.

What should I carry to Hoenn?

To Hoenn, you should carry healing items, many TMS and other misc items you may use (like Smoke Balls, type enhancing items like the Plates, etc). If possible, carry a few TM Toxic and TM Dig. You will do the Geodude thing again as you might’ve done with Deoxys and Slaking in Hoenn. I recommend these:

Chimchar: Dig, Rock Smash, Shadow Claw, Flamethrower, Brick Break TM.
Piplup: Ice Beam, Surf, Toxic.
Turtwig: (Are you seriously gonna use this thing?) Dig, and any other TM you may find.

Which are the Sinnoh Starters?

The Sinnoh Starters are:

Chimchar: MONKE. Basically Torchic but improved without a Megaevolution. Mixed attacker with a nice movepool! This is also a great HM Slave. You should totally aim to train this guy. This is the best starter. Fire/Fighting when fully evolved!

Piplup: A really cute, tanky and good offensive Water Type starter. When fully evolved it becomes a Water/Steel type. It learns decent moves and it’s overall a solid choice for Sinnoh.

Turtwig: Remember Chikorita? Yeah, this guy is almost as garbage as Chikorita is. However, Turtwig’s fully evolved form, Torterra, can actually be an insane force against bosses. In story though, Turtwig is terrible. He’s a very tanky but slow attacker, but it’s fine. The three starters in Sinnoh are usable! Choose whichever you want!

I can’t leave the starting town!

Enter Barry’s House (your rival’s house). You need to talk to his mom and the rival.

I can’t leave Route 201!

First you need to go to the Lake with your Rival. Talk to the mysterious dude there and go to Sandgem.

I can’t go to Route 202!

Enter Sandgem Town’s Laboratory and talk to the Professor. Then, go back to the starting town and speak to your mom. You’ll be able to access it.

Where do I find the abandoned pokemon in Jubilife?

It’s at the bottom left corner.

I can’t leave Jubilife!

Visit the school first. Defeat the 4 trainers spread around Jubilife City (they’re all four students from the school). You’ll be able to progress to the Eastern Route afterwards.

Where is Roark in Oreburgh? I don’t see him.

He’s in Oreburgh Mine, in the southeast inside of the city. Enter it, explore it and talk to him to be able to challenge him in the Gym.

How do I defeat Roark? His Cranidos stomps me!

The Rock Type gym leader (wow, what a surprise, the first gym is a Rock Type gym! Said no one ever.) has a very strong Cranidos. You can fight him with Ground types, Water types, Grass types and Fighting types. Makuhita is an easy counter to him and it can be farmed in Oreburgh Gate. Even Hariyama spawns there!

Where do I get Rock Smash in Sinnoh?

You can purchase it in a house in Oreburgh Town.

Where do we head now? Who is this Galaxy Team?

You need to go back to Jubilife City. Now, try to head north. You will be blocked by this region’s evil team and you will have to defeat a few grunts!

I can't enter Valley Windworks. How can I enter it?

When you reach Floaroma Town, you will see a few Galaxy Grunts. Go to the east and talk to the little girl next to the bridge. Head back to Floaroma and go to the northwest, to the Flower Field. Beat the grunts there. Go back to the east of Floaroma Town and enter Valley Windworks. Talk to the Grunt and unlock the door, beat the grunts inside and prepare to fight the Galaxy Elite!

Her Purugly sweeps me, how can I win?

Use a Fighting type against her. She is very weak to them. Makuhita will help you here!

What is this Pokemon Mansion in Eterna Forest?

In the original games, you obtained Rotom here. Here it’s just a sidequest spot. Ignore it for now.

I can't enter the gym. What do I have to do?

You need to head to the north in Eterna. You need to enter the big building and fight the grunts there. You must defeat them all. Fight their leader at the top and rescue all the pokemon. To rescue them, you need to interact with all of the pokemon that can be found inside of the building.

How do I beat her Skuntank?

Her Skuntank is only weak to Ground type attacks. Geodudes will do the job, as they are easily huntable in Oreburgh.

How does this gym work? What types do they use? Is there an order we need to fight the trainers in?

This gym has five trainers. You must defeat them in the correct order to be able to fight the Gym Leader. If you don’t fight the correct trainer, the next one will not spawn. This gym is the Grass Type gym. It is very weak to Bug, Flying, Ice and Fire type attacks. This gym is a complete pushover! You will easily beat it with any of these type pokemon.

How do I go to the next gym now? What route do I need to go to?

You need to 100% have a bike here. If you don’t have one, you will have to purchase one in Eterna City. You need to head south through the Bike Route (206) and then head southeast to 207 until you cross Mt Coronet horizontally and reach Hearthorne City.

This Onix is blocking my path in Mt Coronet! Am I going the right way?

Did you literally ignore the last question? You need to head SOUTH from Eterna City to progress. The Onix is there to prevent you from skipping over two gyms in story.

Do I have to fight the Rival to head to Solaceon?

Yes. He’s easy to fight, so don’t put up any excuses!

What do I do in Solaceon? What’s this Reporter?

The Reporter quest is a lategame quest. This does not concern you now, but it’s one of the best daily quests in the lategame. Come back after you complete Story!

What are these Psyducks north of Solaceon?

PLOT CONVENIENCE. They are there to prevent you from skipping two gyms. Head east to Veilstone City.

What are these grunts doing in Veilstone?

The Grunts in this region have set their base in Veilstone City. You’ll visit this later.

What type is the Veilstone gym? How can we get the secret scrolls?

The Fighting Type gym works a bit differently. You need to keep fighting the trainers until you find all the secret scrolls. Then you’ll be able to talk to the Gym Leader directly and beat her!
The Gym Leader is weak to Psychic, Fairy and Flying. There’s many Flying types and some Psychic types you can find in the routes before Veilstone. Her Lucario is weak to Fighting (lol), Ground and Fire type attacks though. Use these wisely!

How can we help Dawn?

You have to fight the Grunts in the northern part in Veilstone. Beat them up with her! Pick up the Key inside of the warehouse.

Where do I go now?

Head south from Veilstone and keep going south and west nonstop until you reach Pastoria. You will go through several routes, but the key is to keep going south and west and ignoring anything else.

How do I get to the leader? How do I beat it? He’s strong!

The Water Type gym leader has a very big weakness to both Grass and Electric type moves. His Water/Ground pokemon are 4 times weak to Grass and his Water/Flying pokemon are 4 times weak to Electric type attacks. Use this wisely! Beat all the trainers in the way.

I went to Solaceon but nothing happens, I can’t move the Psyducks!

You just skipped a big step.

I went to Hearthome to beat the fifth Gym but it doesn’t let me challenge it!

You just skipped a big step.

Where do we have to follow this Grunt to? Who's this Cynthia lady?

When you beat Pastoria’s Gym, go to the top right in the city and talk to the Grunt. He’ll make the Bomb explode. You need to keep following him and interacting with him to the east, almost until Veilstone. He’ll fight you near the Lake. Cynthia will appear after you defeat him and she will give you the Secretpotion. Also, she’s the Region Champion.

What do we do with the Secret potion?

Go back to Solaceon. Now, interact with the Psyducks. They’ll leave and let you in!

What town do we have to go now? Who do we have to defeat there?

Go northwest nonstop until you get to Celestic Town. Here, you need to talk to the old Woman, defeat the Galactic Grunt, examine the ruins inside and beat the Galactic Leader. Be careful, because his team is very strong! Fighting Types and Fairy Types deal with his team easily though.

What now?

Go back to Hearthome. Time for the 5th Gym!

How do we beat this 5th gym? What's the puzzle?

The 5th Gym is the Ghost Type Gym. Everything will be almost completely dark. You need to make your way through the entire gym and choose the right way to be able to challenge the leader. The leader isn’t very tough as long as you use Ghost or Dark type pokemon, and you can also easily beat her by spamming Sucker Punch against her pokemon!

Where do we head now?

You need to walk back to Jubilife City. Heal up and surf west. You will find a small coast and when you enter the building you’ll find yourself in Canalave City!

Do I have to fight the Rival here?

Yes. And he’s tough! Enter the Pokecenter before you cross the bridge. Whenever you cross it, he will want to fight you!

How do I defeat the 6th gym? How do we get to the leader?

You need to keep defeating the trainers that get in your way until you get to the top floor. The Steel Type Gym Leader is very weak to Ground, Fire and Fighting. These types are very common throughout Sinnoh (except Fire lol). Ground and Fighting will do the job. Additionally, some of his pokemon are Rock and Ground types, so you can use Water types to take care of it.

Where do I go now? I’m kinda lost.

Enter the Canalave Library and speak to the Professor and her Aide to trigger the next story events.

What lakes do I have to go now? Who do I help?

You first need to go to the lake south from Veilstone. Enter the Lake and defeat all the grunts. Enter the Legendary Pokemon cave and defeat the Galactic Elite there. Then, head back into your Starter Town and visit the Lake there. A small event will trigger. After this, go back to Eterna City.

How do I get to the 7th gym? How do we get to the leader?

From Eterna City, head east. Enter Mt Coronet and head north. You will have to keep heading north until you find the way out to Route 216. Speak to the Dig Hole in each side of the mountain to have different teleportation spots so you can quickly move through 216, 206, 207, 210, 211 and Mt Coronet Summit!

After 216, keep heading north to 217. When you get there, you’ll have to head northeast to reach Snowpoint!

In Snowpoint, you will find the Ice Type Gym Leader. To cheese this gym, keep pressing the Escape key to interrupt your movement whenever you’re being carried by the icy movement. You will be able to change your direction wherever you want. Use this to fight all the trainers and the leader!

The Leader is extremely weak to Fighting, Rock, Fire and Steel type attacks. As mentioned above, there’s many of these around Sinnoh (specially Steel types in Iron Island, in Canalave). Use them wisely! Brute force will do the job here.

What do I do now?

Visit the lake just next to Snowpoint. If you need Rock Climb, there is a tutor in Route 206 which will teach it to one of your pokemon. Talk to the Rival in the lake next to Snowpoint. Now, head to Veilstone.

How do I proceed?

This part is going to very complicated so hear me out: defeat the Grunt in the outside of the Veilstone building and get his password. Check the small Warehouse to get the key you need there. Go around checking the trash bins to get some specific special items. To beat this part, you will need to explore the entirety of Veilstone’s Galaxy Base and keep fighting all trainers, keep checking all items and trash bins and unlocking the way through your passwords and your keys. Finally, defeat the Galaxy Elites and find the Button that the last Elite will guard. You will need to defeat him and activate the button for the story to continue.

How can I get to the top of Mt Coronet?

You can easily get to the top through Celestic Town, as you will be able to go north or south depending on where you want to head. You will do a lot of trial and error going through Mt Coronet as it is gigantic and it has many secondary paths and caves. You need to keep going up in floors until you reach the top.

How can I defeat the Elites now?

Git gud! The last few fights will be very tough, but after this, only two final steps remain.
When you defeat the last Elites, you can enter the Distortion World.

How do I walk through this Distortion World? How do I defeat Giratina?

The Distortion world is really creepy. It’s a very dark maze, and it is very confusing to get through (nowhere as confusing and as hard as in the original game, though). You simply need to walk around and test different paths until you get to Giratina and Cyrus.

Cyrus has a full team with a lot of Dark Type pokemon. He is extremely weak to Fairy, Bug and Fighting types. Use these types to counter him.

Giratina is very weak to Ghost, Dark, Fairy, Ice and Dragon type attacks. You can use multiple Geodudes with Sturdy and Toxic and Giratina will faint before he can take your entire team thanks to the poison. If you choose to beat it head-on, use Ice Types with Ice Shard to be able to damage it before he can damage you, as he is pretty fast, tanky and hits somewhat hard. Good luck!

Just saved the world. Now what?

Now head back to Veilstone City. Head south nonstop. Instead of going southwest, however, stop in the middle before you go to Pastoria City. Head East. You will be able to get to the last routes in Sinnoh! You’ll be able to reach Sunnyshore City.

How do I beat the gym?

The gym leader is a complete pushover. He is extremely weak to Ground type attacks, so do not worry. The main issue is the Gym Puzzle. You will have to defeat the trainers and similarly to Mauville, you will need to manipulate the electric barriers to be able to get deeper in the gym. It’s confusing and complicated, but with enough trial and error, you’ll get to the end!

I beat it. What now?

Head north from Sunnyshore City.

Can I go back to Kanto now?

No. You cannot use the boat in Canalave or Lilycove to go back until you defeat the Sinnoh Elite Four.

How can I get Waterfall to head there?

If you for some reason forgot Waterfall, you can find it in Sinnoh Safari Zone 4, next to a policeman. The Safari Zone is in Pastoria City.

Is the Victory Road long?

No. Actually, Sinnoh’s Victory Road is the shortest. You don’t need to go up or down any floors, you can cross the entire thing without going up or down, just using the stairs and bridges! It’s also easy to get through.

What do I need to use to defeat the Elite Four?

The Elite Four in this region is harder (or, more exactly, a bit more annoying and slow than the other ones as most pokemon in this Elite Four are tankier and sluggish to defeat.

The Elite Four here uses four different types, and the Champion uses an unspecialised team:
Bug: Weak to Fire, Rock, Flying.
Fire: Weak to Ground, Rock, Water.
Ground: Weak to Water, Grass, Ice.
Psychic: Weak to Bug, Dark, Ghost.
Cynthia uses a mixed team, so you cannot be fully prepared!

Good luck in your adventure! 🙂
