As mentioned above by Norex, Turboblaze is an ability that allows the user to ignore most other abilities when attacking a pokemon. This ability also bypasses Sturdy.

Unfortunately, as this was not a bug and it's an intended mechanic, there is nothing we can do but wish you luck in your next fight. With this information, you will be able to defeat the boss next time :)
