Well, bad news. After cleaning the PC with CCleaner (about 1,5 GB recovered) and restarting the machine, the situation persists. When I first open the client, the waiting cursor stays for a few seconds, but then disappears and no process is started. Subsequently there isn't even that waiting cursor. Running as admin helps nothing either.

When was the last time you played? Maybe you have an outdated client.

I downloaded the client straight from the website, and it was the first time I did that on this machine. First few times to be precise :P
