Hi there @Dragon57

Thank you for your patience, Thaloras passed this topic onto me as there are a few nuances here to consider so here's some advice to protect both you and your participants.

Firstly, ensure that the event takes place on PRO's platforms. Post the event on the forums and ensure all involved players register on that forum post - this is the best way to protect everyone involved as PRO Staff do not enforce betting, but we do enforce trade agreements which essentially is what this is. Equally, if someone registers in-game, take screenshots of that and post it in reply to the forum thread so it is all in one place. Reject Discord registrations where possible, if someone absolutely does not want to register in-game or on forums, you may accept it but make them aware that it's in their best interest to register on a PRO platform - the reason why is that PRO Staff will not get involved if something goes wrong, we rarely get involved in Discord-based trade agreements due to the fact that Discord accounts can be spoofed and screenshots can be altered, whereas in PRO platforms we can tell if a post is genuine (made by the owner of the named account). You may screenshot and share this post as you wish to help explain.

When it comes to rewards or where the tournament takes place, it must be contained within PRO, f.e. You cannot reward a Showdown tournament with in-game goods, and equally, you cannot reward an in-game tournament with real-world goods. If you need me to double check the rewards to make sure that they do not break any RMT/RWT rules, please let me know - best way to do this because of the high volume of spam I receive is to contact Epithet or Thaloras and ask them to pass it onto me.

Regarding advertisement, you cannot advertise the tournament in-game, however you can advertise it in your personal Discord servers and in the PRO Discord server (#player-hosted-events). The reason it cannot be posted in-game is that it is considered a private community and we do not allow these to be advertised across the board in PRO as they quickly get out of hand and very rarely follow PRO rules.

Other general advice regarding the tournament itself:

  • Make sure the rules and rewards are clear before accepting registrations, and if changed at any point, allow people the chance to back out if those changes are not agreeable.
  • If there is an entry fee, should participants like to withdraw - make it clear on registration whether that fee is refundable or not.

To be clear, if the tournament is used in any way to scam participants (i.e. it is used to collect goods from participants, if the tournament doesn't go ahead as agreed, and the goods aren't returned - at that point it would be considered a scam), any parties involved in the organisation of the tournament would permanently lose their account. Again, any checks you want to run by me to make sure both you and your participants are protected whilst also following PRO's rules, let me know.

Hello! Thank you very much for the detailed guidance.

I will follow all the recommendations to ensure the tournament takes place safely and within PRO’s rules. I’m currently preparing the official forum post where all participants will be able to register and follow the event. I will also avoid accepting registrations via Discord whenever possible, and if it does happen, I’ll make sure to document everything with screenshots in the thread.

The prizes will be strictly in-game, as per the guidelines. If I have any doubts about them, I’ll reach out to Epithet or Thaloras for review.

Thanks again for your support and availability. If there’s anything else important to consider, I’m open to adjusting whatever is needed.

Best regards,

Dragon57
