-1 , I don't want 100-200 rating anonymous guy to snipe top ladder for -30 rating in the name of fun set.

I don't understand. How would they "snipe" you if they don't know who you are.

Nowadays it is quite the opposite, we know top pvp guilds keep track of opponents sets and leak them to their guildmates. If you don't know who you are fighting, unless having a very good memory and remembering the team at first glance it makes this kind of practices much harder. And honestly, If my opponent recognise my team because he fought me earlier, i'm fine with that.

I missed your point. My current vision is that he would prevent sniping a bit.

If as soon as you start a battle you need to know the name of a player to win, that tells a lot about current pvp player base.

@Dorade I don't like the low ladders to enjoy the luxury of staying anonymous. Top ladder have to pay the extra price for absolutely no reason. And ofc the low ladder people will bring out random sets like scarf annihelape final gambit or something to suprise the top ladder and sniping them for -30 or more

Everyone probably know the standard sets from smogon already. Why rely on surprising the opponent than beating them with actual skill?

My opinion stays same -1

-1 names should not dictate how you play the match.  The eventual server merge will fix a lot of the “diversity” issues.  Adding more players and teams to the pool.   Also adding a token shop with desirable options will bring more people in farming tokens as well.

Why do you say "-1" and then "names should not dictate how you play"... that's the whole point of being anonymous...  so that should be a +1...

I miss that part.

Yes it should be anonymous for everyone or for noone. No reason top 50 gets a different treatment.

For the rest, everyone is free to use whatever set they like. I'm the first to get annoyed while being bamboozled by ridiculous sets and random plays from low rating players. But that's the game and being anonymous or not won't change that. I still don't understand your point or maybe be we don't have the same definition of sniping.

Still -1 I think anonymous names are a bad idea.  I think you misunderstand my point. You should see the other persons team, and make proper moves and predictions no matter if you know

know their name or their name is anonymous.

Hi, we already made some changes in the past that will allow us to anonymize PvP matches in the future. This would only affect the opponent’s name, not their Pokemon.

I feel like in this thread people were often talking past each other. As far as I understood, it’s only about usernames, not anonymizing the team itself. Team Preview and Enemy Team View will stay the same. The idea is just to prevent situations where you instantly know all of your opponent’s moves and preferred held items because a guildmate played them earlier.

I do plan to implement this in the future, but priorities are currently elsewhere, so it may still take some time.

i agress with all you viewpoints
just hope this day can come soon ,i think this will make more new people like pvp .
currently , there are too few people who enjoy playing pvp ,
this will make a few people frequently repeat encounter .
as long as the other party knows your name , they can understand you configuration.
frequent losses in games , make my friends around me afraid to participate in pvp ,
even after some people win , they will also mock my friends for poor technology
