All I said was I was dropping out if it’s not a PRO tournament. And you started in on me.   Don’t be toxic and there is no issue. I didn’t need your response to me dropping out.

Yeah, as I already said, feel free to leave, I was just pointing out that even if the tournament gets hosted on showdown, it will still be PRO-related.

I know you called me Antichristian because I do not support Israel, but you can keep it out of this thread man '-'

I was giving my opinion respectfully. If you cant keep with that maybe you should’ve just ignored me since the beginning, or maybe just dm’ed the host

Say what???? I don’t even know you nor do I talk religions on this game.   I think you have the wrong person homie.

(edit: and let me make this clear, I’m Christian, and I do not get into politics or pick sides.  And tbh I don’t even know what’s going on with Israel so please get your facts straight before making such childish statements).

Lugario, I think you misunderstood my point, let me clarify: when I said that Showdown would be used for practice, I wasn't referring to practicing gameplay or testing teams, I meant the practicality of hosting and organizing the tournament due to reliable replays, automatic record of details, no server lock issues, etc.The focus here is to ensure matches are conducted correctly and verifiably and bringing up the argument that "Showdown is just for practice" completely misses the context, since the point was never about gameplay, but about tournament infrastructure.

About "legit" Pokémon, that’s entirely relative... what exactly defines legitimacy? Someone could spend 90 days hunting for a perfect IV Pokémon, while another person could generate the same one with PKSM in 5 minutes, as long as the Pokémon is possible to obtain, both are technically legit, even if you disagree. That's a discussion that has long been settled in official VGC tournaments, and also in PRO, since there's a lot of generated Pokemon's that were given for the Ladder Tournaments winners, in the end, players are allowed to bring Pokémon that were generated or modified, provided they are legal and possible within the game.

But, how exactly is obtaining high IVs a skill? IVs are determined by RNG, the process is mostly about repetition and patience until the right spread appears, that doesn't really reflect player skill, but rather time investment and luck, that's all.

I couldn't disagree more about Showdown being a place that needs less PvP skill, you can use all the resources you mentioned in PRO aswell.

Suggesting that a mere screenshot from both players is sufficient is highly unreliable, since screenshots can easily be manipulated or falsified, so depending on players to self-verify matches is not a robust solution, and saying that any suspected rule violations can simply be resolved by asking staff is, frankly, unrealistic. If it were truly simple, we wouldn’t even need a staff review process.

Finally, about servers, I agree that organizing brackets by server could mitigate some issues, though it doesn’t fully solve the underlying logistical challenges

Legit and legal Pokemon are different things. Legit Pokemon are the ones caught during normal circumstanses, but legal can be the ones are generated, but they are not legit because they are not caught. The whole point and excitment is about getting the Pokemon with the normal means, if you get it through generating then there is no fun to that. On official tournaments genned Pokemon are not acceptable. You maybe breed Pokemon for perfect IVs or get them through raids but that is different.

Also yeah in the past there were givenaway Pokemon as a reward on PRO, but that was under special circumstanses/requirements.
We do not know if they are even planing to continue doing something like that in the future.

Idk if it is even legal to do that on PRO but even if it is, since we do not have perfect IVs, you cant know exactly the oppoments IVs, so u still depend on your skills and your experiense.

Having nice IVs Pokemon in PRO is a skill issue because of those factors:
1. If the Pokemon is bought, then that means you needed Pokedollars for that. In order for you to be able to afford them, that depends on your skills as a player and how you manage your money and resources.

2. If the Pokemon is caught, it is still kinda a skill issue. Some people when they hunt a Pokemon, for example a Charmander, while hunting they catch different Pokemon too, that means more time hunting and less time catching Charmanders. Also maybe they keep chatting or they are watching something and accidentally run from the encounter. Or they move their player too slow? All those are different factors that determine how much devoted you are to grind and get your reward.

Also obviously I have not signed up but the registrations are still open and nothing is preventing me to register if it is held on PRO
Is not like the 1 million Pokedollars entry fee will stop me. And maybe my thoughts are same thoughts that went through the mind of some other people too. 🤔

Anyways, like someone said maybe there could a vote at the end and whatever people decide.
