While I understand the frustration the result is the same. I suggest that if you wanted you could have bid the 3m immediately and then edited to add on "Unless I won with 2.8m" or something similar. I would have taken that into consideration and not held it against you for editing because you aren't editing your bid.

It's more the bid he made to be added to the 15 minutes was added even though the auction hasn't ended and if it was to end after the bid it would be 15 minutes after the end of 49
