Vegetarox
Who is the best False Swiper – and why? Hey everyone I’d like to start a discussion about one of the most important tools for catching Pokémon: Who do you think is the best False Swiper, and why? Please don’t just name a Pokémon – I’m especially interested in the reasoning behind your choice. My current setup At the moment, I’m using Smeagle as my False Swiper with the following moveset: SoakSporeFalse Swipe Why I like this setup: Soak removes type immunities (e.g. Ghost-types) Spore provides reliable sleep False Swipe safely brings Pokémon down to 1 HP Overall, this combo feels very flexible and works well in many situations. Why I’m asking I’m wondering if there are other False Swipers that might be: more consistent bulkier or faster require less setup or perform better in specific scenarios So again: Which Pokémon do you consider the best False Swiper, and what makes it better than others? Looking forward to your experiences and explanations IGN: Vegetarox Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/270556-who-is-the-best-false-swiper-%E2%80%93-and-why/ Share on other sites

Lacomus
I’m not much of a hunter, but my answer is Dedenne. The reasoning is simple. Super Fang cuts a Pokémon’s HP in half, which is often more than enough when hunting low level targets. If it isn’t enough, a follow up Thunder Wave usually does it…or I can just use Super Fang again. Recycle. I hold a Leppa Berry, allowing me to restore PP to Super Fang once it’s consumed, then recover the berry again. This keeps PP effectively topped up. On top of that, Parabolic Charge provides some sustain by restoring half the damage dealt as HP (occasionally KO a wild Pokémon you’re not looking for). That healing stacks with Cheek Pouch, which also restores HP whenever a Berry is consumed, on top of the berry’s normal effect. Put it all together and you end up with what’s essentially an infinite swiper. PP stays healthy, HP stays healthy, and the hunt keeps going. It’s not a common setup, but I enjoy using it. Sometimes, the best choice is simply the one that brings you the most joy. Profsmoove
The best false swiper? Hmm I can’t say what pokemon is the best false swiper but I use a fair amount of false swiper pokemon/other pokemon to use for different hunting methods. Breloom/Parasect - Standard pick for general hunting method (False swipe with spore) Smeargle,Pangoro - Good Option for hunting those ghost types (Soak, False swipe & Spore for smeargle)(Scrappy Ability Pangoro with false swipe) Bisharp/Smeargle/Gardevoir/Gallade - These Pokemon are mainly for hunting those teleporting abra (Mean look, Role play, thunder wave, false swipe for Bisharp)(Mean look, Role play, False swipe, Spore for Smeargle)(Trace ability Gardevoir with Mean look, Thunder Wave & Hypnosis)(Mean look, Skill Swap, False Swipe & Thunder Wave/Hypnosis. Smeargle, Aegislash+Gengar, Alakazam/Reuniclus/Sigilyph+breloom/parasect - these ones are only used for beldum hunting. (1.Any Ghost type move preferably status move , 2. Conversion, 3. False swipe, 4. Spore for smeargle’s moveset) (Aegislash with false swipe/ Gengar with Wide lens item and hypnosis)(Magic Guard ability on all three psychic types with the skill swap move/ False swipe & Spore for Breloom and Parasect) To explain why the smeargle moveset is numbered in order is so the move “conversion” (can get from porygon) can work as the description implies - it will change the user’s typing to the current first move typing in the list so smeargle will turn into the ghost typing so beldum’s takedowns are ineffective in the process. Oh next for the psychic types with magic guard ability and skill swap, you use skill swap on the beldum so that it’ll be protected from recoil damage of take down and now you’ll be free to switch into your breloom/parasect for easy false swipe and spore. 1 Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/270556-who-is-the-best-false-swiper-%E2%80%93-and-why/#findComment-1676526 Share on other sites
Astralfenix
I have an easy answer, just to add to the conversation. Marowak because he is also an Tm slave haha: dig, headbutt, cut, or rock smash. False swipe and you can give him the thick club item for bonus damage. just a all around utility mon. This is great especially for newbies. Lugario
Breloom Nature Adamant Ability Poison Heal Breloom is strong enough to leave most Wild Pokemon at 1 HP with using False Swipe only once. With Poison Heal and a Toxic Orb, you will also prevent getting status effects during your hunts. After you get poisoned, you can also remove Toxic Orb and put Smoke Ball instead, so you can run away of any wild Battle. Sleep is one of the best status effects on catching a Pokemon, so False Swipe + Spore (100% accuracy) and you will catch everything in no time! I used to have an OT Shiny Smeargle but I kept getting status effects or not being able to one shot with false swipe. Smeargle maybe is good for ghost types, but for everything else Breloom is objectively the best. Some people may use something else other than those because of a shiny or a form, especially if it is OT, but if we are talking about efficiency then Breloom is the way. At the end of the day, whatever you have, if u keep throwing pokeballs it will eventually catch it.
