To advance past thing island, you'll have to collect:

 

1 Golden Scale

3 Revival Herbs

6 Pink Peony Blossoms

I knew the first part of the quest, but I couldn't get past the clouds. Watching the video, I realized I needed a Xatu in my party, so I was able to get to the other island of East Aphrodia. Thanks so much for your help!
