Bug(?): Dig not working in overworld.

My nidoking has had dig since almost the start of the game and i have been using it to fasttravel through caves the entire time. i have now reached the indigo plateau and after some more farming it is now telling me i do not have a way to dig every time i try to use it. 
is there a known way to fix this issue?

Apologies for your issue.

 

From what I see, your Nidoking doesnt meet the requirements to use dig which require 150 happiness.

 

To know how many happiness you have, you should use the command "/happy" and the spot of the pokemon he is in your party. 

 

For example there since you Nidoking is in the 6th spot, the command will be : /happy 6 and press enter.

 

Now how to gain happiness ?

- You could use the groomer which can be found in Cerulean House (left house of the PokeShop to be more precise) 

 

- Fainting wild pokemon in the wild, you gain 1 happiness per kill and 2 with the Soothe Bell item, which can be obtained in different way! 

 

Also keep in mind to be able to trigger the Indigo Plateau dig, you will have to speak with a Dugtrio which will allow you to use dig from Route 22 to Indigo Plateau.

thank you very much! i was not aware of this!
i guess it lost happyness while fainting over and over while grinding elite 4 haha
