first say to your friend that unfriend me then send him friend request again....try this

it happens with some, I have this problem with 2 of my friends. and even when we send friend request again, once one log out and back in again it happens again

It can happens when your friend list is full, added list but not save when log out. Try to delete some others and then add again.
