Sicksick Posted yesterday at 10:44 AM Share Posted yesterday at 10:44 AM Hi, if i start the game using my gaming laptop, the game startup is gonna freeze (due to heavy stuttering) my laptop until the client is fully loaded. Starting in 60 hz is a little bit less laggy and the game is starting faster, starting in 165 hz is almost freezing my laptop and client takes much time to start/open. I think my drivers are up-to-date, what should i do ? Aorus 15 BSF I7-13700H, rtx 4070 laptop / intel iris xe. Not sure windows version matter, i'm now using 25h2 but i had the same issue using win 23h2. Lacomus Posted yesterday at 11:44 AM Share Posted yesterday at 11:44 AM (edited) @Sicksick This doesn’t sound like a hardware performance problem. It’s probably related to Intel iGPU to RTX 4070 switching. High refresh rate handling, or Windows fullscreen optimisations. When you say 165 Hz makes it worse points more toward a display/GPU switching issue than the game itself. Try forcing PRO to use the RTX 4070 in NVIDIA Control Panel and disable overlays/fullscreen optimisations. Sicksick
Disabled windowed and full screen optimizations and tested both iris xe and rtx 4070 graphics, still experiencing the same issue... Not sure it's worse in 165 hz, the game startup is lagging anyway but in 165 hz laptop is struggling a little bit more because of higher performances. I also had this issue while starting an old fps game, i have no clue... looks like an incompatibility issue or missing drivers/libraries. EDIT: If i change the switch from bios (PEG mode to SG mode) or switch graphics from gigabyte control center (nvidia to intel), it's working but i'm forced to use iris xe graphics, if i keep nvidia graphics it's lagging hard even if i set high performance (nvidia rtx 4070) in pro from normal control panel graphic settings. I also disabled nvidia overlay, is there something i'm missing ? Lacomus
@Sicksick It still tells me the issue is tied to the NVIDIA dGPU/Optimus path, not the game itself. Try a clean NVIDIA reinstall with DDU, then reinstall Intel iGPU and chipset drivers directly from the Gigabyte’s support page. Also, disable HAGS and test borderless/windowed mode. It could be an Optimus/MUX incompatibility with older DX9/OpenGL titles, than a raw performance issue, considering older FPS games are affected too as you said.
