Daeon's written an awesome guide on making money - I recommend reading through it.

 

I strongly suggest making use of the Item Maniac. There's a free star piece at Mt. Moon that respawns every week, the free nugget you get from completing Nugget Bridge north of Cerulean City, and the hidden stardust on Route 3. Selling all of those to the Item Maniac will get you ~27k. Combined with the other tips from Daeon's guide, you should be able to save up enough for a bike in no time. :y:
