Ivo the Evolving Professor

I'm a player who likes multiplayer games, but who doesn't like being forced to interact with other players.

I know it sounds weird for someone like that playing a MMO, but I like having the option of playing with others and not being forced to.

 

So a problem I'm running into is evolutions that require another player to trade with.

You need the help of another player to evolve a pokemon that requires trading, this means you need to find someone who's online and someone who's trustworthy, which I actually find annoying.

So I've started thinking of perhaps a different way of evolving these pokemon, without the help of others.

 

And so I came with the idea of Ivo, the Evolving Professor.

Ivo is a professor, like Prof. Oak, who's dedicated his life on researching the evolution process of pokemon.

 

But Ivo has always been interested the most in special kinds of evolutions, the one that require trading for an evolution to happen.

How do these kinds of evolutions happen, why do they happen and how do they work?

 

Interested in this, Ivo has spend years on creating a system that allows a trainer to evolve a pokemon that require a trade through a computer system, instead of requiring another trainer.

After having spend all his funds on his research, Ivo has been able to place a terminal in every pokemon centre across the world, which can be found on the first floor of a pokemon centre.

 

But sadly, Ivo still requires more funds to continue his research, so he needs a way to make money.

Because of this, to actually be able to use his terminals, you first need to sign up for a subscription to his services.

 

For a total of $25k, you gain access to his terminals for the rest of your life, so Ivo can continue his research.

 

Each terminal can be used for several things.

* For one, it can tell you all the evolutions of a pokemon

* The terminal can also tell you when a pokemon will evolve

* Or what a pokemon requires to evolve such as items.

* But the most wanted feature, is the feature to evolve pokemon requiring trades.

 

You need to carry the pokemon that you want to evolve in your belt, and by accessing the terminal and choosing the trade-evolution, the system will first check if a pokemon has met all the requirements for the trade-evolution.

But for this process to work, it requires alot of resources, so you'll have to pay a certain fee to trade-evolve your pokemon, for a price of $7k.

 

Once you've paid the fee and prepared your pokemon that you want to trade-evolve with the items needed, you can start the process and submit your pokemon into the system.

After the process is done, you'll receive the evolved pokemon back into your inventory.

 

Because this is in fact still a trade, you'll still require 4 Gym badges before you can use this system.

 

This suggestion may improve the game quality, as it's another money sink that's added in the game for people to spend their money on, and it prevents the danger of getting scammed when you try to evolve your pokemon with other players.

Do note, players can still trade pokemon with others to evolve these pokemon, free of charge.

This is just an alternative for players like me who like to evolve their pokemon without the help of others.

Thing is back in the days of blue/red u already have been forced to trade with others via a cable to get pokes like Gengar. I mean ok u could have bought a second device and a 2nd version of the game and trade evo "alone" between them. But it has been always a philosophy of the game to make friends, trade your pokes and battle with them. Thats Pokemon. So Nintendo didnt make it impossible for u to not having fun without any social contacts, u just hadnt access to everything like pokemons ala alakazam, machamp etc. And this philosophy was kept in all following generations. :)

There were plenty others u could love and train and here its literally the same. And tbh its not that hard to quickly ask and find someone to help u evo-trade. If u are afraid of getting scammed always make screenshot of it, but usually ppl dont scam you. :) A last possible way is to keep your eyes open for a trade mod. ;)

 

So yeah nice idea, but its not the philosphy of pokemon, thats why its getting denied. ;)

I can see what the idea was behind this limitation, to let players interact with other players.

And I can see the purpose of it back then when the games first came out, but about now I kind of see it as a limitation that's just a bit silly...

 

This idea is not meant to take away the purpose of having players interact with eachother, but instead of this being the only way of doing it, you could also have it as an option, with this idea I suggested being an additional option. I really would prefer spending a bit more money on evolving pokemon this way than finding another player to trade with, but that can also be because of my autism

I like the idea of having a terminal in every Pokecenter to tell us how to evolve a certain pokemon. I am with the others on the fact that the trading mechanic to evolve from an NPC has always been rejected before, but I would definitely like to see the idea of telling us how to evolve all pokemon. Overall, I would say that without the trade part, this is a great idea and would help prevent many questions on how to evolve certain pokemon in the help chat.

As for the information giving terminals, I'm afraid it will beat the purpose of the Pokedex. Sorry, but we've rejected this kind of suggestions multiple times, and no still means no.
