So if I defeat johto e4 I can take my Kanto Pokémon into pvp battle l?

Guys I have a question? Which Pokémon can you use for pvp? For example if I’m in johto and I want to do pvp can I take Pokémon that I caught in Kanto? Or I only can take my johto Pokémon’s?
